  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

5K and ultraprimes??

Anyone any idea , what would be the widest ultraprime that could cover the sensor in 5K of the epic???

Probably the same coverage as Master Primes (which handles at least 16mm without vignetting, maybe wider) ... but I can't say for sure since I don't have an Epic or Ultra Primes :P

Just be sure to follow Mark, Ketch/Gibby and Dino's posts as I think they will each be doing extensive lens tests on their Epics in the coming weeks.

I know the 16mm UP does cover 5K.

Hi Jim,

May I suggest a sticky with 5K lens coverage detail?

I'm positive this is going to be a point of inquiry for a lot of folks now that Epic is out in the wild.

All the best,

Steve

I agree, I've already seen a couple threads on this subject pop up.

And it's great to hear 16mm covers it!

Duclos measured both 10mm and 14mm UP's image circle at 31mm, while the 16mm UP has a 33mm image circle. He doesn't have a number up for the 12mm UP.

Duclo's Image Circle Database

Does someone remember the image circle necessary for 5k, I think it was 32-something... but I can't remember. I keep forgetting.

Is there any chance the 8R UP might? Or is that way past physically possible?
