I've been living and loving DRAGON-land since 2014, but there's a feature I've been missing until yesterday: 5.5K HD resolution.
I had naively been assuming that the step down from 6K to 5.5K is the same ~10% reduction in horizontal and vertical pixels (19% total pixels) regardless of format. That's wrong: going from 6K HD to 5.5K HD sacrifices a mere 3.6% H and V, or 7.2% total. The net result? If you are just not quite getting the REDCODE number you want from 6K HD, 5.5K HD might help you around the rounding error with hardly any loss of resolution. And, it's nicely sized for lenses that are ever-so-slightly generous, but not overly generous, with their S35 image circles.
Together I get a nicely optimal shooting configuration with much less than expected compromise. Yay!
P.S. I also notice that 4.5K HD kinda works in the opposite direction: if you are reasonably happy with the REDCODE, HFR, and HDR capabilities of 4K HD, for only a small penalty (and similarly small increase in resolution size) you can get those few extra pixels needed to make the bayer pattern dissolve just that little bit extra.
