Now for the overexpectations: if we've got lens motors and electronic control... what about that Built-in ND !? ;)
That would be a dream... Integrated motion-mount in this baby, would love that. Maybe optional for extra $.

Absolutely nothing, Brent.
We are still waiting for official announcement this Friday and know almost nothing about RAVEN. :-D :-D

Well, the web team has an easy time now for Friday. One static page that is a link to this thread. Haha...

I hear the price is $5950 for the body!!!!!

I think there are a fair amount of people in this boat, underestimating the initial investment. Many people confuse "ready to shoot" with "ready to work", they are not the same thing. If your are not already invested in the RED eco-system, your looking at closer to $15-20k.

240GB Mini-mag records 63 minutes of 4k 5:1 ( $1400 / each ) x6
RED Brick provides 120 minutes of run time ( $450 / each) x4
==============================================
In batteries and media alone your looking at $10k for one days shoot

Well if you're working with long shooting days, a 1TB mag gets you further for less. Depending on RC you can shoot about a whole day on one card. 4K/24fps @ RC 7:1 is about 6hrs on a 1 TB for $3.900

And you can find cheaper V Mount battery solutions if you need to do so.

But of course the general sense is correct. The body only doesn't get you far. ;)

No matter what this is going to be a stellar camera.

Now I'm reeeeeeeally hoping for a built-in ND solution (even if it costs extra) and some help from the power-sipping pixies and this thing will be a knockout.

I've updated the headlines. It was always meant as a "for the price of a C300mkII, you get...."

And I mean... look at what you get for that price. Quite a bit. Dual 240GB minimag, touch monitor PLUS the OLED with mount...

But did you forget actual batteries on ready to shoot package? I would say that you could do fine with just the LCD monitor if you want to get into the RED ecosystem as cheaply as possible. Viewfinder can be bought later.

One thing to take into consideration in the RAVEN VS C300 mike is sound. I´m guessing you will need a module to get XLRs. And without XLRs, you are not competing in the same game I think.

Bring on the YouTube camera 'Tests' between the Raven, Ursa mini, iPhone 6s, and the C300:

- where they shoot different subject matter with each camera,
- at different ISO and frame settings,
- with different lenses,
- with different colour temps,
- and different post processing...

Then declare iPhone 6s the winner!

Haha. But only if there are anamorphic lenses on the iPhone6

Yep, was an error. Updated with one Revolt XL. Total $9945 for RTS.

There might be a charger missing, but there is also no package deal calculated. Just the individual components. RED offers some discount for the packages that aren't in my list.

Your basic shooting list doesn't add up correctly. Remove the OLED viewfinder.

Appreciate the feedback. Did too much editing in a short time. Now I understand the remark about the OLED in the basic package above. Of course it shouldn't be there. The lists were correct at first but had some formatting errors that I tried to fix with some copy/paste. My bad. Updated now.

Feel free to PM these things. It should be OK now. I don't want to hijack this thread for this purpose... Many thanks.

IMO, if you are really serious about sound, you are going to record sound separately to a professional sound recorder. The internal sound is for scratch/synch purpose and, for that, 3.5mm jacks are adequate. If you are doing doc work where things have to be small and self-contained, I don't see the mini jacks as all that much of a limitation.

Well, but that's like me saying that if you're serious about images you shoot 65mm film only.

XLR's and a decent audio recording will make the cam useable for a lot of oneman bands.

A-box like solutions work well, but it adds hazzle.

XLR's straight in the box. I can see the use of that a lot.
