I have the following backup system:

HP StorageWorks LTO-5 Ultrium 3000 SAS HH LTO-5 SAS Tape Drive
1 LTO Starter Media Kit - Includes 1 LTO data tape and 1 LTO cleaning tape
1x ATTO ExpressSAS H680 (PCI-E x4 Slot Required)
mini-SAS cable

The drive has been used on a couple backups, but it otherwise very close to new condition. The rest of the items are new.

You'll need to provide your own software--I am not parting with the BRU PE license.

$2999/OBO

Will you sell without the ATTO controller? I've already got a couple extra H680 and H6F0 controllers here...

LTO5 & 6 Variants with thunderbolt connections will be released shortly

Don't count on it. LTO-6 spec is just entering the prototype sampling phase and the formalization for media manufacturing hasn't even started, so the 6th generation LTO systems are *AT LEAST* a year away at this point. This info is per Tim Jones at Tolis Group as well as the NAB guys for HP and Quantum.

As for LTO-5, don't expect any new products at this point. But what most manufacturers were showing was using the ATTO H680 host adapter in a compact Thunderbolt expansion box like the Sonnet or mLink and connecting the LTO to that. ATTO also makes the Thunderbolt to SAS host, which does the exact same thing for a bit cheaper and in a slightly smaller (but much noisier) package.

Cache-A is exploring Thunderbolt connectivity. I could see those units getting the Thunderbolt upgrades in the near future when the compact PC platform they're based on gets updated to Ivy Bridge mobile, which will have it.
