It could be magnesium frame, with plastic/composite housing (ala Sonys, Canons, BMD, etc in the $2-10k price range), making it 2.5lbs! That'd be something! Could be MX (though I doubt it) running at an extremely low 10wh, so as to last 1.5hours on a single REDvolt! Could be nothing more than a brand new MiniMag module with "Raven" written on it instead of "Weapon"...

Point is, if you wanna know before the 25th, someone has to get Jarred drunk...

If it's something like Jeffrey suggests, an Epic Dragon in a smaller lighter body without the need to BS, I'm in. If they're able to weatherproof the body more (not sure if that's possible with the way they're built) I'll buy two. Can't wait for the 25th.

FWIW, my current RED has been through nightmare's weather wise compared to most cameras and it still works perfectly. I've had friend's with Sony's lose their camera from a snowflake. Not trying to start a war with that. Just saying my personal experience with my current camera has been bomb proof other than the fan going out.

Copy that Jeffrey. Not suggesting they're not well built at all. We had a 10 foot jib collapse with an Epic on the end and much like Ben, I was terrified to turn it back on. Also worked perfectly.

Oh I know. I was just chiming in on the durability. The best example I have is being mid slope on a 55 degree slope getting hit with "sluff" or a bunch of fast moving snow that took me out eventually and rolled me down about 500-700 vertical feet tomahawking while hand holding my Camera the whole time. This was the MX before the upgradee. Never had a hiccup afterwards. Needless to say it went for quite a ride.

Hey I dropped my brand new iPhone 6 plus 2 days after I got it about 4 inches off the ground and the screen shattered into a 100 pieces!

+1
I'll buy the bottle!

Bottle? Better make it a case!

Who's in on a case of fire-breathing whiskey to get Jarred to spill the beans?

Dreamers uploaded another URSA Mini 4K video. This time it was shot in 4K ProRes: https://vimeo.com/139460095

If 4K and 12 stops looks that good, 4.6K and 15 stops is gonna be something really special.

I'm a big BMD fan but the big question over the 4.6k sensor is will it have a greater range of useable ISOs than the 4k, which is incredibly limited.

I really mean this in the nicest way possible.

But why keep posting in this thread about the URSA? I'm pretty sure at this point everyone in here is well aware of it's capabilities. You have posted on or about it nearly every other post.

Coming from a BMD I wasn't too impressed of its color science not sure bout the 4.6 but the 4k version looks like the old bmpc 4k with slow motion. I think RED has BMD beat in color but that's my preference.

This has me interested, particularly if it will do 4k high frame rate (100fps) recording in r3d at a reasonable compression ratio. For most the projects I do - destined for the web, Bluray (or even DVD) and festival films, 90% of the time I cannot justify the additional file sizes / sytem strain that 5k and 6k brings. 4k r3d (on my system) is a sweet spot for smooth performance and reasonable file sizes... Though I would partially love 5k for a true 4k image. Not that any of my clients would care! I really like the Red image and ecosystem so will be interesting to see if this is an option for me, whether I go Scarlet Dragon (from MX currently and still great) or move over to a Kinemax. (I'm based in Perth so the China/Bali location is closer than flying to Sydney).

I was thinking that too.

I'm actually wondering if this is going to be awkward for those owning a Scarlet Dragon or Epic Dragon. If it's a Weapon body, but with lesser specs, will it be available to upgrade to the next gen sensor? If so, the upgrade cost for going Epic-Weapon-NewSensor will be enormous compared to selling the Epic, buying this and upgrade to the next gen sensor.

If it's a better upgrade path to go with Raven, it's going to be a strange day to be an Epic owner.
