Is that a thing? Aerial Lite load? hmm.. it could be the light drone/gimbal camera in the RED system and provide indies with a way to shoot RED they way the Mini seems to provide an "in" to the Alexa world. Sorta makes sense.

Well I'm done trying to predict, i've been wrong in every way possible.

I'm excited to learn about what it is though.

What I hope it is, is basically a Weapon without ProRes in a cheaper to build body. I'd love if they offer 2 variations. One option with a built in lens mount. And one that still allows you to change the lens mount.

I have to say even owning an Epic Dragon, if they're able to squeeze the Epic Dragon into the Weapon form factor and have it cost less because of a fixed lens mount, no prores at all, weight a bit less and a different build also for cost, i'd probably buy it instantly.

I'm typing all this without reading the anything other than what has been of Jarred's Facebook wall.

Hey Jarred can you do a 10 question Q/A like you did before one of the previous releases? Obviously you choose the questions :)

hmmm, well this camera does seem like it will be an amazing camera at 4k 120fps. So I'm assuming this isn't my chance to change out my scarlet for a raven, but perhaps buy a new scarlet D when the price drops??? Time will tell.

they're just numbers for identifying 2 cameras. Also 4K4ALL does not (I think) contain a secret message from the Illuminati.

If you think the Illuminati has anything to do with this, you're delusional.

Everybody knows it's Opus Dei.

Who knows - there may be more than one RAVEN for all we know...

Hopefully Red has assessed the competition actuell with
Blackmagic (URSA mini 4,5k), Canon, Sony ...
Acquiring a 4k image quality currently available for $ 4,500 and a lot less!
Raven should be the a first low cost product ? ...
if that's the case, then I do not understand the Red policy that, with the Weapon seemed to reach a more professional circle ...
Verdict end of September ...

But has it also 4K output like all the other camera's??

I cannot stress enough how unlikely it is RAVEN will be affordable (ie $4K Ursa territory). It has RED EPIC specs (120fps @ 4K). I assume it will be closer to SCARLET DRAGON prices ($15k).

I'm gonna laugh when it's just a module or firmware update enabling 4k monitoring 4all their cameras.

Think about it...Raven (bird of flight), hard-plastic (light-weight) body, emblem that has wings (to fly...hello?)...

Hmmmm...I think this might be a slightly less expensive light-weight camera designed with aerial cinematography in mind. Anyone?

Absolutely Nick.

A Red camera with Red IQ and a Redcode raw in the arena for production companies on the tier below the bigger boys to afford has to be the target.

The super lower cost market is saturated and the cost of ownership of a Red OUTSIDE the cost of simply owning the camera means I imagine it is an arena they won't really have much interest in playing in.

However, the next tier up - the one that can handle broadcast/commercials/'proper budget' promos etc etc even if it isn't their everyday line of work... That's the one where I can see people jumping for Red. And if you let me shoot everything - sync and off speed - at the same no crop S35mm 4k resolution I will be a very happy man.

EDIT: The idea that it might also be light enough to be a great gimbal/aerial cam makes it even more exciting. Like a reverse Alexa Mini :)
