#4K4ALL

I personally dont think this camera will be in the URSA price range.

My guess is its targeting C300 MKII. $15k brain.

4K4ALL maybe a relative term - its more likely 4K4ALL within the RED ecosystem, not for the general shooting world. Its looking like the INDIE RED. But that doesnt mean its going to compete with A7 or Ursa, thats looking like0 another market alltogether...

Agree with all of that. This will (hopefully) be a camera to compete on smaller and lower budget features. Not a thing for no budget youtube videos.

The price range is hard, as the Scarlet Dragon is 14.5k for the brain. I thought Red wanted to sell the current DSMCs WITH the Weapon bodies at the same time for a long while. Difficult..

Not a thing for no budget youtube videos.

You seemingly mock YouTube videos... Often there is more money for that type of digital first content than Indie / lower budget features. I know that a few shooters from here on the board have created "blockbuster" YT only videos with budgets far in excess of many indie features.

Awesome... Just awesome and a big surprise to me. 120fps @ 4k, wow. RAVEN will make a great impact on the market. I am a little, really just a little, concerned about the lens-mount. If it's no longer swappable that would be a loss to me. So far, thats the only thing (well, and the lack of a SH with REDVOLT-slot ;) ).

For those that are thinking URSA mini pricing, here's just a few accessories you will need....

Weapon RED Touch 4.7" - $1450
120GB Mini Mag - $850
Weapon REDVolt XL Module - $1150
Redvolt Charger Quad - $595
RedVolt XL - $350 x2 = $700
Weapon Top Handle - $550

Total = $5295 (already above URSA mini in just accessories, and I guarantee you will want/need more than these)

So IBC has closed. Let the Raven fly out of a cage.

Don't be absurd. You know exactly what I meant but seemingly just want to argue semantics when I said 'no budget' youtube videos.

About 80% of my work is online. That doesn't mean all my budgets are 'standard youtube shooter' for them.

Yes, I list the items that should be included in a RTS package. You can change the XL setup for a normal Redvolt if you want. But those things should be included with the brain within the #4K4ALL price tag… That's why I'm feeling it doesn't add up and I'm trying to illustrate the unlikeliness.

But #4K4ALL can't be $7000 for a brain only. Because that would be Scarlet all over again, and that camera already exists. Even if it's really aggressive at $5500... with mandatory additional RED components it adds up really quickly.

Somewhere people are making a huge assumption that will reveal itself as incorrect and a major 'gotcha'. I would be delightful to be wrong.

Scrap redvolts altogether. Mini mags and touchscreen are the only components that are necessary.

Someone quick, enhance that video!

Hahah, Supertroopers is on Netflix too. Doesn't Epic-X do 120fps at 4k though? If they were going cheap, that'd be one way... Or make Raven $14500, drop Scarlet Dragon down to $7950, and drop BT Scarlet-x to $1.5-2k...

Here's my updated guess...

Scarlet-X w/ Side SSD and Lens Mount price drop from $10,150 to $3,500 ( <- this makes 4K accessible to all and current Scarlet-X owners a little pissed)
Scarlet-Dragon w/ Side SSD and Lens Mount price drop from $16,700 to $10,000
Raven-Dragon (Aluminum Weapon Chassis) w/ Integrated Side SSD, and Integrated EF mount price $15,000 new or $4,000 upgrade for Scarlet-Dragon owners.

Raven
5K 30fps
4.5K 60fps
4k 120fps
REDCODE
WIFI
Aluminum Weapon Chassis

Let's see what happens.

This makes sense. Though I can see there being 6K specs as well (23.98? 48fps?). Dont forget, 120fps at 4K is basically EPIC DRAGON horsepower. Raven in some ways appears to be MORE than a Scarlet.

Also...I think MX just gets discontinued, to be honest.

But prices drops to both SCARLET DRAGON and EPIC DRAGON don't seem unreasonable. Though at that point, a RAVEN may seem more future proof if you think about it.

There may also be an upgrade path for EPIC DRAGON owners to RAVEN...that may be much more affordable than Weapon...and breathe new life into "Obsolesence Obsolete".

For Epic Dragon owners that never wanted Prores or the Modularity of Weapon, this may be an appealing choice (though may also be too lateral to be appealing?).

But for Scarlet Dragon owners, this may be a very tempting/appealing upgrade - in many ways its the EPIC DRAGON upgrade, in Weapon Form.

Wait a minute. Just hang on. The Scarlet-X already fits the profile of an affordable 4K camera that features Redcode. Why would RED sell a camera with more features for less money? Maybe there is a price reduction coming for the Scarlet.

The more I think about this, the more I'm starting to suspect Raven will be to Weapon what Scarlet was to Epic??? (Or something like that, sort of)

Thus it might be placed *above* Scarlet in the pricing structure, but Raven would still be the cheapest RED in the new line up (or just Weapon and Raven).

Yeah, something that's definitely intriguing to me. Weapon for me (and I'm sure many others) is economically ridiculous. I'm off the upgrade boat and going to ride the Epic-Dragon to the ground (such an awesome camera) unless RED comes up with something that makes more sense than a $20k shell upgrade.

I'm trying but having a hard time considering a move from Epic Dragon to a fixed mount (presumably Canon) as an upgrade, particularly if Raven is built on a Dragon sensor.

Exactly. It appears to be the Scarlet Dragon (with Epic like specs)...of the WEAPON line...

Yeah, good point: most likely Raven is targeted more to Scarlet Dragon owners, and first time RED adopters...

OK, but then you have to offer an alternative. What I am talking about is a RTS system. The customer buys it on red.com and when the box arrives you can pack it up and start shooting. I'd accept if media is not included. But everything else has to be in place, including some type of power and charger.

I get the feeling you imply some type of v-mount brick or similar. That seems more expensive than Redvolt.

on a per Wh basis V-Mounts are exponentially cheaper, more ubiquitous across the world (resulting in many people already having them) and a lot easier to get in a pinch when your bag has been lost after a flight.

A built-in V-Mount plate would be absolutely fine for me but if not, an aftermarket one would be cool too, and not expensive.
