This is just a guess as to what i think they may do. I'd guess a fixed .RED codec, 4:4:4 colour sampling that has Graeme's baked in magic ready for the Soccer Mums to point and shoot. Simple playback on a RedPlayer. You want RAW, you go pro.

Well that would suck

I mean Sony is packing the A7sii with S-Log3
If they can do it, Red can give us Redcode with little to no limitations.

- New body (maybe cheaper to produce)
- MX chip with new color science
- 4K RAW up to 60fps
- max 5:1 compression
- enough features missing to separate it from the big boys in the family
- basically, a Red One MX (in smaller form factor) or Scarlet MX, improved color science, better compression, and higher frame rate at 4k.

FWIW, Sony released a S35 4k E-mount camera with a price under $6,000:

What's interesting is that it's more expensive than any A7 body - though obviously there are reasons for that, and obviously some people would prefer the FS5 to an A7.

I'd be surprised if RED released a camera with a fixed EF mount, as Sony E is way more flexible.

I really don't see why Red would take a step backwards towards MX. The future in now, with a kick ass Dragon sensor. After shooting a ton with Dragon and seeing many advances Dragon provides, I personally wouldn't buy a new Red camera unless it were Dragon.

And if people are looking to use this as a b or c cam to match with there dragon sensor cams, it would make sense.

It could be just an attempt to steal some attention away from URSA Mini's and the surprise release of a7s II. Maybe nothing is ready besides drawings on the paper.

Over the past year, Jarred has rarely teased photos of near completed hardware without being close to announcing and bringing to market.

My guess is this camera is far beyond paper - and mostly likely ready to unveil relatively soon.

Oh brother. Things must be pretty slow in Trollville tonight....

To some degree its a fair point of consideration. I'm dubious that RED could announce and deliver a new product in such close proximity to the pending Weapon new orders, upgrades and 8K being deliverable at the end of the year. It sounds like a NAB 2016 announcement, even if it is announced before, delivery in volume would probably be this time next year.

Although, I wouldn't single any one camera competitor and it product as as a singular motivation. Company A, B, and C are each fighting for the same pool of consumer dollar, so its in their best interest to keep the brand front and center.

I think we will get an official announcement before the end of IBC. Jarred did say in his last recon post that there were still products that had yet to be announced at IBC and I have a feeling they will save the best for last. Keeping fingers crossed.

Looking forward to see what the 4K4ALL is all about, a inexpensive 4k cam for BTS work would be great.

Im hoping the end of IBC products will be a wireless video module and a high speed camera :)

Jarred just posted this on Facebook!

Looks like its Called RED RAVEN!
Loving the name to be honest!

Would be strange if this has better specs than the Scarlet Dragon and also have the ability to upgrade to a next generation sensor after it... that would honestly be better than even having an Epic Dragon.
When will this be released in full specs? This kind of teasing makes it hard to plan gear before knowing what it is.
