I'll take that bet... How much do you want to wager?

.

Wait. At first I thought this was just a silly offhand comment but now I wonder.
Are you saying that is a bet you are genuinelly willing to take, because it seems like it's a bit hard to prove what is in the hearts of men.
Unless that is you are looking to take action to prove your point??
To make it clear that you have no fear? !!!!!!!

They just mean the mount and not the sensor size.
There are already S35 cameras with a M43 mount.

No, the sensor size will be m43. Anyone saying FF or S35 does not understand pixel size. I highly doubt RED will R&D a brand new sensor with larger pixels. They are going to use the current dragon sensor with a 4k cut of the canvas, which has a 1.96x crop factor, placing it at m43 size.

M43 seems backwards for anything except aerial work, so I'm thinking this will be a bare basics intended for aerial, but could be used for anything obviously. Jarreds post about the m43 DJI cam hints to this as well.

You might as well say it's hard to go back to 60fps once you've tested 300fps.

Obviously I'd love a Dragon sensor but at my hopeful price point I've no idea if it is possible to have that AND have the frame rates that would spec it above the competition.

Personnaly I rarely shoot off speed. 25p is what makes me a living. I would hope it's 5k so you still could get 60p at 3k... and 5k raw makes an acceptable 4k master.

Put your money if you are serious and have no fear?

I am the target Red is positioning this camera for. I'm the guy that wants a Red so badly my wife makes fun of me for how much time I spend on Reduser.net. I've told her that before I get a Red I will have to get something else fist to fill my need for 4K and better images so I can generate enough cash to drop on a Scarlet or Epic.
I have played with so many R3D files it's crazy and from that I know how much I love the format. The dynamic range of Dragon and shooting RAW are the two main reasons I'm so passionately pushing to get a Red.
I'm looking at an A7rii (I have my reasons) primarily because I love shooting RAW and S-Log2 (or S-Log3 w/ A7sii) is a great code and I love how it grades. RTS I'm looking at just under $4K. For me to be seduced by this new camera I would have to have:

Redcode to compete with S-Log2 or S-Log3
4K up to 60fps
2K up to 120fps
A monitor (The new 4.7" is fine)
Some sort of power even if it's a couple RedVolts
And I guess CFast
Plus some variation of Dragon. I love and need that highlight rollout and DR. Even if you throttle back Dragon to 14 stops.
The thing that will really tip the scale and have me jumping around my house like a lunatic would be if it was modular and gave me the ability to swap out accessories. Let me later on purchase the Mini Mags and side SSD. Let me be able to upgrade to a larger monitor. Give me the ability to add V-Lock batteries, the new side handle and all those other bells and whistles so that when that glorious day arrives and I do get my Epic or Weapon... I'm ready to shoot as soon as the UPS driver shows up to my door.

I'm just like you Adam. I want a RED so bad for the same reasons you do, and need an entry level camera that uses RED ecosystem. For me, it must have RAW (ProRes would be a bonus, but not required), interchangeable camera mounts (even if you get it initially with a Nikon or Canon mount), and Mini MAGS.

As an entry level camera, I want to invest RED accessories that I can later use on a Weapon upgrade. RED wants Weapon users to use their accessories on a B-drone/camera. I'm hoping there will be no CFast. The new 120Gb mini MAGS suggest RED will stick with mini MAGs. I expect Wi-Fi as the lack of it will make me wait longer to jump into the RED ecosystem.

Entry level users need the option of adding a PL mount and lenses. That get's them closer to a Weapon upgrade, so it's smart.

A $7K to $10 price point is fine with me and I can't see RED going lower on price and still be able to offer their ecosystem.

I've already been down that road and in many ways paid for it, and if the camera needs to pay for itself and turn a profit then you need to think very carefully and not just rush out and buy just because it's suddenly within your grasp.

I just want it to be smaller and lighter like a DSLR, something like a gh4/a7s that is light weight, small and very run and gun!!!!

So, no real indication that there will be more news soon?

Was this just a reaction to Sony's FS5? The need under pressure to let people know that there is something coming from RED? I get the feeling now that it is a long time out?

If it was a Q4 timeframe, wouldn't RED have had dropped it already?

Logically, we will have more informations really soon.. This #4k4All teasing was made during the IBC start, that's a way to say : "Hey guys, we will announce a new cam during this IBC".

Teasing during the IBC and spill the beans later in the year would make no sense..

I have to say, if this camera is competition to the FS5 over the FS7 I would not be even slightly interested.

The FS5 is an absurd camera for anything other than events/online - XVAC-L only and 8-bit even from the HDMI port.

Lot's of speculation about RED's reasoning behind what is guessed to be a low/no frills camera.

Maybe there is a dual purpose, like being in a certain market, but I'm thinking it is primarily in response to a thread started after NAB (looked for it but haven't found it yet) asking for just what is being described.

Apologies to the thread starter for not remembering his name.

Put your money if you are serious and have no fear?

You mean Red put their money if they are serious and have no fear?

I'm wondering if Jarrad is saying he is willing to prove the lack of fear through action!
That's a bit more mind blowing than a bit of a giggle around putting down a fiver etc.
I may be misinterpreting what he said tho! ;)

I would actually like a smaller sensor, especially with a dragon at the heart as I have high end 16mm glass.
I agree it won't be a new sensor, not because of the difficulty developing a new sensor but because it would be too much to cope with yet more firmware. I'm expecting the new camera to be able to share firmware code with other models.

However the MX sensor would be possible and that could be 4K at about Super 35mm.

I'd actually like something low cost with a smaller sensor and light in weight (and needing less watts in power consumption!)
