Hello every one, this is my first post here!

I'm shooting time-lapses with my canon 5D for my stock footage site and I will be getting the Red Scarlet to start shooting 4K footage this year.

All the stock footage on my site will be free to download and use. The person that downloads the footage may be working on an SD, HD or 4K project.

I'm confused by all the different 4k dimensions and I was wondering what would be the best 4k aspect ratio to give to someone that may be woking on SD, HD or 4k project?

Thank you very much for your help.

Aspect Ratios:
4096X3112 (1.32)
4096X2160 (1.90)
3840X2160 (1.78)

3840 or 1.78 matches the 16:9 of 1080. Probably the best match without cropping.

Since you are shooting 3:2 all of the common aspect ratios (1.78, 1.85, 1.9, 2:1, 2.40, 2.39, 2.37, 2.35, 1.66, 4:3) can be extracted from it. Personally and what I've done in the past is deliver the full resolution series of images to let the "person" decide what they want out of it.

I'm with Phil, whenever I have the ability to provide a higher resolution when doing Time-Lapse I do. This allows for a change in aspect ratio in post depending on who will be using it.
