  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

4K Compatible KVM Switch

That is an option but as Stacey says the current UHD displays only have one DP 1.2 port. My computers also live in isolation so physically unplugging and plugging is a pain. I'm just trying to decide if $400 is worth the convenience. I know if I don't get one, most likely one of the computers will sit idle 99.9% of the time because of the hassle of accessing the computers. I could get two keyboards, mouse, and pen tablets but that will be about the same price. I feel like I'm back to the blade switches LOL.

Just an update on the KVM. It works @ 30 Hz with the Sharp. When I put the Sharp into MST mode, then I am not getting a picture on the Sharp and the laptop keeps flickering. I tried it with the Quadro K3000 in my laptop and K6000 in my workstation. Both work at 60 Hz (MST) on the Sharp without the KVM in the path.

That is a bummer. I think this indicates that I will end up with two mice, two keyboards, and two monitor cables in the future.

Thank you for following up.

Has anyone tried that DP KVM switch with some SST 4K display?
Also i wonder if some combination of this HDMI 2.0 switch and just about any kvm used just for mouse & keyboard can be used for 4K KVM.

I had the same issue. My other business requires proprietary enterprise software that has to run on XP. I have 2 Dell U2713H monitors each with the Dell Soundbar. I connect 1 monitor and its soundbar to the XP. The other to my main PC. I leave a spare USB driven keyboard/mouse combo on a shelf until I need it.

This doesn't exactly answer the 4k question, but it seems like a good solution.
