Hi,
As Red is now offering a 4 year warranty to new purchases of V-Raptor, don’t you think it would be « fair » if I may say to extend that warranty also to early V-Raptor adopters?
I know there’s less and less Red team members reading this forum so this is a bottle in the Ocean… But beside a few missing function (including that TC issue), I’m quite happy with my ST Raptor however every big set I shoot with it I have tons of comment about the camera not being « reliable »: people are having issues with their RF mount, sensor split, etc…
Not begging but giving me an extra warranty would make me feel safer regarding my investment.

Jarred's answer on the REDUSER Facebook Group:

The extended warranty is a limited promotion just for customers buying a cameras in June or July… not retroactive . For those who bought cameras before ( or after ) obviously your normal warranty still is functional. For those who may be upset… just remember all raptors that we have made since raptor launched where made in the middle of a supply chain nightmare and pretty much every part of the process of manufacturing and logistics and procurement cost us way more to make every camera than when we set the price… and we didn’t pass those increased costs to you by charging you more for your cameras…. We can’t absorb those costs which we already gave you as well as give you an additional extended warranty. Hope that makes sense.

Some other notes from that discussion:
- Standard Warranty is 2 years
- Looks like Jarred is exploring a discounted Extended Warranty

and we didn’t pass those increased costs to you by charging you more for your cameras….

Yeah, because you know if you raise the price sales will slow and it'll counterbalance any net gains. I get that having a direct conversation with your customer is a tightrope walk, but give the consumers a little credit. Seems like he's cherrypicking parts of the equation to point at instead of just saying, "This is a promotion. These things aren't selling well enough and we have to sweeten the deal in a way that won't cost us any immediate money." If you can't have transparency whats the point of the communication? For me half answers are more frustrating than no answer.

.... yes and no. Of course you are probably 100% right but lots of modern customers don’t seem to understand their suppliers busness needs and act like spoilt children needing love!...

I mean, might as well extend warranty to RED One owners under that logic. I’ll take one or two for my weapons thanks

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your reply, understood.
I tend to skip FB but it seems that Jarred and the Red team are now using it as a main communication platform instead of this forum.

There's RED employees here for sure. Some don't carry the official RED banner even, but they are posting replies and such. A couple this past week. The Facebook groups are certainly easier for some people to handle due to the nature of it living with you in the pocket. I think people are hoping to see the level of interactivity back when the whole industry was much smaller, but way too much has transpired for that to even be logistically possible I imagine.

Jarred hasn't dropped a recon post in a while, but I also am well aware that RED is much, much more tight lipped about things these days.

I moderate "everywhere", even other forums and groups, but I'm also sometimes on set for 16 hours and I'm not exactly checking REDUSER on those days. Just doing my best to pass along relevant information. I'd say if you're looking for good information REDUSER and the REDUSER Facebook Group are the two most important places to watch. Everybody should follow Jarred and RED on instagram for sure. He just showed off the battery end of the V-Raptor XL with the V and G Lock mounts recently.

Community outreach and response could be better, but there's also a lot of stuff that likely leans towards no response needed or likely something more suitable towards contacting RED support. Jarred actually does a pretty good job keeping an eye open for workflow stuff, saw him rush out a custom build for RCX for somebody online in the last week or so.

Hey Phil,

Thanks for taking the time to reply... And on a bigger scale, many thanks for not giving up on Reduser.
I'm nostalgic of that time when we could exchange directly with either Jim or Jarred here on the forum. By checking Recon on a daily basis you could be updated to whatever was relevant to Red and you almost did not need other media.
As you wrote, the industry and the Red community is much bigger and like everything else it has some down side, I guess Reduser as I enjoyed it so much does not exist anymore.
I now should stop getting that thread out of subject.
