I'm wondering why we don't have intermediate resolutions on the scarlet dragon. Like for the epic. Like 4.5k@6:1 for example. Is there some technical limitation? If not, it's not something that would encroach on the epic. That would be very useful.

4.5k on Scarlet is a different thing, as it would go higher than max resolution (for motion). Never say never, RED is obviously testing and exploring, as we have seen with that glitched 5k-Scarlet. But only doing it with WS? I don't think that will happen, people will start asking for those "few more lines" and bring up the whole argumentation with math again.I don't know, but they didn't do 4.5kWS for Scarlet-X either.
Yes, maybe it allows a few more fps and slightly lower compression ratios. It could also increase the runtime for your REDMAGs a bit. There are some good reasons for those resolutions, otherwise they wouldn't exist on EPIC.Were you just hoping that 4.5 & 3.5 would have higher fps or lower compression ratio? Not sure what benefit is, given that Scarlet-D has 5k FF. 5.5k WS would be cool, as it's a bump in resolution and the most sensor area still coverable by the typical s35 image circle.
