Is Daywatch available on DVD in region 2?

Don't think so, could only find Night Watch (which I saw in a film festival). Guess I'll have to wait to see Day Watch, which is okay, tons of other stuff to do now ;)

I am so glad the cold war is over. Now I can dump my wife and go marry a hot russian babe. Hey, it's possible!! Has anyone seen the beauty on this seasons 'Americas next top model'? She's 21 her ol man is over 40.

(Can you tell my wife doesn't read these forums, hehehe).

It's interesting that for some men when their wife reaches 40 they want to trade her in for two 20s.

#1 is for the museum. #2 is mine to shoot. #3-5 is whatever I feel like using them for. :-)

Going back to pricing for a second Jim, just to give everyone some food for thought.. How about sharing (In very rough numbers so as to not cause problems) how much YOU paid for those 5 cameras just to get them into your hands.

Anyone wanna take some guesses there? I'm guessing Jim's paid a bit over 2million a piece for his 5 REDs..

Now I feel like I'm getting a deal.

:)

Yes, But Jim can afford it.

Yes, But Jim can afford it.

I used to work with an actor in LA who was in the Star Wars films.. He's worth a few million dollars, a few houses, all that. But he always used coupons whenever he could.. Eventually I said "Jesus man! You are worth buttloads of cash, you don' t need to use coupons!'

What he said I will never forget:

Whatever money means to you when you don't have any, means the same when you do.. If you didn't like spending too much for something when you were broke, it feels no better when you are rich."

If you think cause Jim has it, he loves to spend it.. I doubt it.

Hey Rob...

The DI for Daywatch was conformed on SCRATCH at Encore Hollywood... I know it'll be out soon... ;)

We'll have about 10 minutes worth of footage as demo material (courtesy of Fox Searchlight) at NAB.

I did not say he enjoys flaming money away developing a product. I said he could afford it. In the end if the camera and system will be a successful as it appears it will be then Jim not only adds a nice chunk of change to his holdings but he goes down in history with Jobs, the WOZ and Mr. Gates.

Hello Lucas,
I will come by and check it out. What type and size of screen will you be showing the demo on?

I hear ya.. No arguements from this row of the theatre.

Jeez haven't you ever encountered a cheapskate millionaire? In a lot of cases, that's probably how they got to be millionaires!

Not that I'm saying they're all like that, but I think most people's notions of rich people's attitudes to money come from TV shows and movies, whose writers probably don't get to mingle with the well-to-do all that much!

Why WOULD coming into money change you all that much? I'm not rich by any means but I could easily afford to get someone else to service my car or mow my lawn, but I still prefer to do it myself.

More often than not, you do encounter a certain common "attitude" from the rich, but that's because 99% of the people who try to engage them in conversation are on the scrounge. I think it's a rare and wonderful thing to be actually able to directly contact a real billionaire on this forum, with a reasonable chance of getting a personal reply.

I don't know what the big deal is... It's not a great movie, just like the first one, IMO, but a VERY different one, including aspect ratio! I watched in theatre back in January of last year, and remember having a good time, but after walking out of the theatre feeling disconcerted because it was SO different. Anyway, there's an audience for every movie...

oh, and the $4mil budget was INCLUDING the ridiculous amount of advertising all over (for the first movie).

[edit: no piracy. ~Brook]

"Director Timur Bekmambetov of Bazlevs Film in Moscow, has chosen the RED ONE digital camera for all the digital cinematography used in Universal Pictures', WANTED, staring Angelia Jolie, Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy. Though the body of the movie will be shot in film, there is a substantial digital component to the filming which will be used by Bekmambetov's VFX and production company in Russia. Wanted begins shooting in Prague in April, 2007."

Jim

Is it purely a coincidence that the first movie to be shot with a Red One is by a Russian director and the latest two prototypes are calle Boris and Natasha?

Cheers,
Damien
