Congrats, man.

I have a feeling at some point they will rethink on those film cameras, though.

#1 is for the museum. #2 is mine to shoot. #3-5 is whatever I feel like using them for. :-)

Jim

You made your toy. You diserve it.

Memories in 4k, man.
Visual timegate.

I know I will.

Oh la la .... Praugue Watch with RED by Reds next month in my hometown

too much for me now :blink::blink: :help:

... must go sleep now

There's a project that I'm affiliated with right now that would have brought some great recognition to Red. Unfortunately, the fear of the unknown won out. Basically not enough time to get the camera in the hands of the DP and camera ops so they have some time to mess around. But you would certainly recognize the names of everyone involved. I'm hoping there might still be a way to shoot some behind the scenes footage with it, just for kicks. How funny would it be if the behind the scnes fotage looked better?

Steve

Now none of the major studios will have a better camera than independent filmmakers!

So this is comming out in 2008? What if somebody else shoots a movie with the RED ONE and finishes before then?

Ummm.... no independent was ever barred from using the same cameras as the studios.

It's all about asking for something you don't think you can get. I know plenty of indies who got deals on Panavision or Arri packages.

Jim's #3 camera per Jim on cml. Would 1-5 be Jims' "screw it! make the film with my cameras" deal, if so--brilliant.

That is a great kernel of information. I know all of us were curious. It seems I got off the internets a little too quick, I still think one of the protos is headed to the Smithsonian Institution. I am reading more about the project, the filmmaker and the Creator and I am really blown away. This has to feel good guys. Did I hear something about Avatar... ?

We have plenty more surprises for NAB...

Jim

This is amazing Jim... I knew it would happen but I didn't expect it to happen this quickly.

Imagine that. A big-budget studio feature partly shot on a $17,500 camera.

Heh. Impossible is nothing. Just give it a few more months and somebody will sign on for the whole show.

Nice! Congrats Jim and the Red Team! A real milestone for sure...camera gets selected before its even out yet? Thats awesome. I can't wait.

I still can't get over how grate of news this really is.The " industry" or some people in if. have excepted a camera that is still under development to shoot a big part of a studio summer block buster.

that is a job well done and it is because all of your hard work RED Team..

Well Jim, some good news. Even if I can also advance there is a 128 pages screenplay waiting for this camera.

Hey that is great E.! I hope the funding goes well for all involved.

I gotta be honest, I was hoping that a small-time independent (perhaps a community member here) would have the first crack at making a film with the RED ONE, but I realize that's not how things work in the real world. Respect amongst the film community should prove to be quite advantageous to us early adopters.
Congrats RED team on all your hard work and diligence! RED's all growns up!

I have worked on quite a few big budget films and the one thing they never are is fast. I am pretty confident that a bunch of red shot indies will be completed and released far before you even see a trailer for this big budget film.

Thanks for your kind words Andrew!
