  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Post your developments to the scarlet thread...

I used a bit of the new tools on this development...

Here's the r3d

Thanks Justyn...

Have been thinking a bit about the requests, and have landed on: What the heck!

If there is interest, I'll post a few more r3d grabs and maybe 10-second shots for people to play with. This is testmaterial after all.

What I'd like to see in return, is that people post their results to the scarlet thread and their RMD's from their grades alongside them.

Could be a nice learning experience for us all.... :)

Just gauging waters here...

I think it also might be interesting to post the bitmap-test I mentioned somewhere, as to the co-relation between resolution and perceived dynamics/precission....

Am I onto something that might be usefull here?

Cheers!

You're onto something EXTREMELY useful! Thanks again, you're the man!

Thanks Sergio.

I'll start pumping out some images tomorrow...

It's possible to make requests from the posted images.

And I have some other stuff, of course...

The good thing about this material is that it is shot and cleared as testmaterial, and thus I am the one deciding what goes into PD...

anyhow...

I see that I am effectly running two threads here now, and I will like to keep them separate, as they have a slightly different purpose...

Files and grades in the public will be posted here:
http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?66510-So-what-can-you-do-with-a-Scarlet-X.../page7

And I'll run this thread down its course. I still have a lot of material I think want to present here, as I get through it.

Cheers!

Have had to finnish a couple of gigs lately and haven't really had time to update the threads, but as this is the night of Stage 4, I'll shamelessly bump my two threads, as people seem to find them usefull...

Thisone is to be filled basically with stuff from me...

Thisone:
http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?66510-So-what-can-you-do-with-a-Scarlet-X

has a lot of r3d's from Epic in it, and I encourage you to download files and post your developments.

Unfortunately I don't have time to post much material these days, but I promise, there will be more!

Cheers!

OK. I know I have promised an Epic/R1 MX AB, but there hasn't been any time...

So, I'll just show off another little thing I like.

Extremely old and soft and vignetting optics under high ISO and out of focus on an Epic.

60'ish years old uncoated Angie... :

And I'll come back with the serious stuff... Maybe next week.

Try some of the really old and and soft Cooke Speed Panchros. They are lovely on Epic.

I love those. Haven't tried them on the Epic yet, though..

Sometimes I love the Masters.... Sometimes the Angie.
Actually I think the Angie looks even better on the Epic than on the R1...

I think there's something very nice about the way Epic renders B&W too. Better blacks to go with the better highlights.

I definite prefer the Epics extremes a lot over the R1 MXs...

This is just a quick desat in RCX-P, no "real" B&W" shot and quickdeveloped at 3200 ISO, to make things even "worse" effectively pushing 3,25 stops off centre...

LOL

But allthough Jim might disagree, it is not all bout sharpness all them pixels. It's more about smoothness. As is 16 bit sampling...

Mmmmm....Texture.

I like texture in images. Even on a computer monitor it makes you want to touch the image.

I just love the last image. I am hoping that after all the initial frenzy with resolution the technicians will see that they need to enlist the serious support of some artists to develop sensors which have more of the feel of film.
