  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

18mm now shipping

Looking at mine tomorrow according to FEDX - just in time for a Sunday shoot.

It's nice in Denmark but the images are all pretty unsharp shots!!??

Really? Please post something completely un-processed in full 4.5K WS and let me see how your Leica - or whatever lenses - perform.

BTW. These are all fully handheld shots so there might be a tad more sharpness had I been on sticks.

I would expect sharpness to be compromised by F11, did you use a matte box?

Yes - that's what held the ND .9, and you're right. This lens isn't sharpest at 11. I should have brought higher NDs with me - and an IR filter. I didn't want to stack NDs.

not sharp@11?!!

not sharp@11?!!

You've got to be kidding me-any modern lens perform it's best f4-11

Easy Tiger!!!!!

Easy Tiger!!!!!

And your point is that the RPP 18mm sucks?
My point is that there is nothing wrong with this picture and no need to spread urban legends about lens being unsharp at F11- you jump to conclusions too fast- You kids....:emote_hippie:

My only point was that it's not sharpest at f11. From what I can see it's sharpest between f5.6 and f8. I do have a plan on doing a full test of the RPPs, but time is money ;-)

Here there are some examples of still wide angle zooms I shot shot handheld on R1 @ F/11 or F16,
no filters, no matte box, some of the shots have got "legendary" here at the forum:

But how did you figure that? On a monitor looking at a scaled 720p signal image? If you can see it there......

Tony,

here is a masterpeace of all 18mm (FF35mm) lenses:

Leica Super-Elmar-M 18mm f3.8 ASPH.

"This is a lens that can be used without any reservation at all apertures and distances and under all circumstances.
Every time it will bring the best possible results.

Flare is almost non-existant. You really have to trick the lens to create flare. See below. The sun is just outside the top left edge."

Read more about the test by Erwin Puts >>>

Somebody would say it is not so fast @ f/3.8 but show me the similar performance at faster apertures with other lenses cine or still.
