  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

$18,000 4k camera from JVC??

Wow...

I can't think of any camera that I would want to use less than this camera...

Sounds like a media managing nightmare. 4 cards per 1 frame. No thank you!

"the interchangeable model will record AVC/H.264 4K video at up to 60 fps onto four separate SDHC cards, each capturing an HD-sized quadrant ..."

LOL.

LOL.

It also has a record button that you have to press 4 times to get it to actually record... </sarcasm>

jup - sounds like I could create nice picture-in-picture effects without any render-time by just renaming some folders or files :)

Wait, what was on this card?! Was it the top left of the beginning 2nd interview, or the bottom right of the end of the 1st interview?!

Hum Sound Nice.. 4K.. But..Shape dislikes ..
"RED" Shape, quality, Fantastic. No words to express comment. RED RED RED

Please tell me it at least comes with a sled so you don't have to put each card in individually.

Clearly this is expert mode only. It's like Tetris, but for video professionals.

Serious weirdness with the price point and functionality of this camera. Considering Red's offerings and the more recent astronauts landing on planet 4K, I'm feeling this JVC camera is on a different trajectory perhaps headed towards the sun.

Oh God! Its the JVC!!!! RUNNNNN!!!!!

At least they have joined 4K, this is a good thing. Come on Panasonic!

The more companies to adopt 4k the cheaper the tech becomes and the more material becomes available for broadcast, etc. This is a good thing regardless of whether the camera is good or not. Hardware becomes cheaper and wider adoption of 4k strengthens. This is good.

Finally, a sober post in this thread... ;-)

It's like they had this 1080p camera in the pipeline before realizing everything is going 4k, so instead of scrapping the old 1080p model and starting over, they figured out a way to make it record 4k (sorta) in order to be able to market it as a 4k camera.

somehow it feels like these super early QuadHD Displays where you had an external player feeding the display with 4x single HDMI cables (back when the standard did not surpass FullHD over 1 cable)... :)

This concept was launched 2011 I believe....dumb concept it was anyway 4 cards, 4x the DIT, 4x the chances of something going wrong. The big change appears in the use of the Nikon mount & the ridiculous price point.
