Everybody like small monitor for focus assit, SmallHd 702, Tvlogic 5,6 but actualy very comfortable to use 17'' Monitor for focus assist too.
It is heavy but very comfortable, actualy you don't always need to run with DOP with small monitor.

There is SmallHD field monitor 13'', 15'' but price is more then 2500 usd.

So there are Lilliput 23,8'' 4K and Osee 15'' with price arround 1K.

Lilluput 23'8 looks very impressive.
4K, HDMI and SDI inputs, focus assist, V moun option and price 900 usd.
Osee looks impressive too but only 15'' for the same peice.

Whad do you think about Lilliput 23,8'' or Osee 15'' or maybe do you use some other 17'' monitor for focus assist?

Noooo, that first Sony is TN panel and the second one doesnt say IPS and that manufacturer seems to specify IPS in the third one so the second is probably TN too!

Seems kind of insane that they even make production monitors that are TN at all given the horrible viewing angles and color shifts, and even worse they would sell it for $1500...

I'm eyeballing the Flanders AM210. It has a lot of great features for a production monitor and a really good price

I had an Ossee 15.5". Great little monitor and 10 bit. Fit in a small pelican. But loading LUTs was a POA so I sold it. If I were in the market for small to medium, I'd probably go for the Small HD 13.3. Sure it's pricey but I'd get something like that on every job. Perfect for vehicle work, travel jobs, and smaller near camera director's monitor. The high bright, 10 bit and easy LUT management can't be overlooked. I have the 702 Bright and it paid itself off fast because everyone wants it.

That's what I have...works great, and is a nice size at 21.5"

OSEE Has a second Generation of 15.6" with all the items noted in this thread corrected. The model is now called LCM156-E. Cost is the same, $1kUSD
But what a difference. First off, many of you that own the first ten product can have yours converted to the "E" version
New Features: 10 Preloaded Camera De-logs, 4 User LUTS, 3 Calibration Spaces REC709, SMPTE2020, and DCI-P3. The company has monitored this and other forums to improve and enhance. Waveform/Vectorscope can now be used with HDMI (Biggest complaint) USER LUTs are loaded with a very easy to use MAC utility program. Plus Focus Assist, Luma Zoom, ZEBRA, and False color have been added.
While supplies last, we have some "B" stock demo units to sell. Contact me for more info. Keep an eye on our website, a lot of new models are on the horizon. For the holidays, we have a discount, depending on what you purchase.
Last note: OSEE desires to treat our customers as business partners, not just customers and dollar signs. I'll prove this to you, again just contact us.

I'd like to respond to the note from Cameron. He had some issues, yes. But OSEE sent him a new replacement as soon as he contacted us. The replacement is the latest model LCM156-E. I look forward to a few comments, hopefully positive from Cameron about not only the service rendered, but also about the features of the new monitor he received.

Yeah, IMO avoid the Osee monitors. I recieved mine and First shoot out of the box, it died half way through day 1. Got a replacement. 2 days ago on a gig it died again half way through day 1.
The feelworld monitors look interesting. Thanks Dan

Cameron, Did you get the new monitor we sent out to you?

As Thom has stated, Osee's customer service has been great, I am in no way knocking that. After my initial email to Osee and some accompanying videos showing the monitor not powering up, there was another monitor in the mail headed my way. This was my experience both times. Fast replacement, great communication.
But, on the other hand, having a production monitor die on set twice (which I don't use it often) and have no explanation for the director...just makes me look bad. I now carry a cheap 17" Wal-Mart TV as a backup....which has gotten a lot of use as it is substantially brighter.
I'm looking forward to the upgrades mentioned above, especially more nits and focus assist, to hopefully change my current feelings towards this monitor :)
Once I receive the new "E" model, I'll let you know how it fairs Alexey.

Avoid the LILLIPUT BM230-4K. Not enough feature set, just size. Reproduction color is not good, no LUT option which means no calibration option. Always recommend Flanders, but the price is unapologetic. OSEE's feature set and price touch most bullet points.

Hi Cameron, whats your verdict on the second gen monitor? I am about recommending an affordable monitor for a production, they need 3 units and we are in Africa, so returning a faulty unit is often too expensive and not worth the hassles. I need something that works out of the box and its "dependable" and its within $1k (15"+). What you think about OSEE, or you rather recommend something else? Pls PM if you prefer. Thanks

Hi Abiodun,

Finding a 15"+ monitor could be a hard task! While shooting in Nigeria last time, the rental house gave me a non brand Chinese monitor (which they claimed is a Sony lol), it was actually no that bad, it worked non stop for a month of shooting, image was okay, it's 1080P, this is NOT a Panasonic 17" or Sony 17" which cost 3K, but is fine to view the image on a large screen. It's pretty decent and it works with SDI/HDMI plus has a V-Lock plate and a case included. I've checked on Ebay and found the model, here is a link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/17-3-3G-SDI-HDMI-LCD-Monitor-Screen-Carry-case-For-FS7-BMCC-Red-one-Video-Film-/261952328272?hash=item3cfd935250:g:KdQAAOSwEK9T35c6

I think for about 750$ including the case it's a good deal.

Also, Bon (really like their monitors), are selling off the old 18.5", you could get it from the UK for about 1K USD, I tried it out in store, it's a really nice monitor!! you do need to get a case and a v-lock plate for it, which will add some $$ to the price. The benefit is it has scopes and everything else you need and Bon are a top notch company. check it out:

I'll just chime in to say that I am very very happy with both of my OSEE monitors. I have used them extensively in some really harsh conditions and they have given me no problems.

Nick
