  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

17-50mm V2

Perfect! Thanks Jarred. A perfect compliment to my Epic!

One last question. Does the hood have an internal thread that can take a screw in filter? And if so, what diameter?

M

yes, 67mm filters fit on the front element.

Sorry... that info is obviously wrong. No threads on the inside of the hood.

OK. But there are 67mm threads on the front element (same place the lens cap goes) right?

Bottom line, I just want to be able to protect the front element in situations where I wouldn't be using a mattebox.

yup.. you can use 67mm filters or a 67mm lens cap ( it will ship with one for now ) .. or if you want a 114mm lens cap that will ship with it when it is ready.

OK. So the 114mm lens cap slips over the exterior diameter of the hood, right? A clip-on mattebox adapter ring would be 114mm as well.

I like the idea of the 114mm lens cap so it keeps the entire hood interior clean and protected.

seems like the 138mm or 143mm to 114 bellows back for the MMB-1/MMB-20II are no where to be found... what to do what to do...

Is anyone using a 67mm Variable ND (Fader ND) with this lens? (V1 or 2)
Could be a good solution for one man band-work.
Or is it too clumsy when you want to adjust that small filter inside the hood?

Yes I was referring to the MB 20 and the MMB-1 with the 143mm back, and what I would need to step it down to the 114... I thought they used to make a 138mm bellows to 114? Maybe I need to just sell it and get the red mattebox, any plans to have a 15mm mount for it in the near future?

Hi Ryan,

Arri does make a bellows back for the MB20 and other 143mm backs. Then you use the step down rings that Jarred linked to, screw them into the bellows back and you are all good.

Obviously this won't work in a clamp on configuration, it's designed to be supported by rails.

Cheers,

Steve
