I understood. But would it be possible to do the update via RED Europe. Export from EU and Import to EU is sometimes difficult.

One thing to mention... you obviously will need a new lens cap for the new hood , which we will include once they get out of tooling in about a month. The new lenses and upgrades will ship with a 67mm lens cap right now to protect the inset glass elements, and you will be sent the 114mm lens caps when they are ready.

Special set of jigs we created to do this without compromising quality control. We can see about doing it in REL in the future.

Any way you slice it, this is good news. My first thought was "well crap I really don't have the money to upgrade my lens now, and the 17-50 gets used a lot, but that big ole hood is kind of a pain.

Whaaa... Upgraded hood for almost nothing?

Red continues to take great care of it's customers, and I like many really appreciate it.

Looks to be about the same as the angenieux rouge. I can live with that.
Another great aspect of this update is that it will be the same size as my compact primes so no need to buy a new mattebox ring.
