I wish RED would give some indication on the availability of the 17-50. I am looking for lenses right now, but this lenses seems to have fallen of the map.

Same goes for the Bomb EVF. the old EVF was not available when I bought my RED, but no time scale for the new one, working with no EVF for me is difficult

I love it, big improvement over the 18-50 (mine was never that sharp) can't find any negs. Wish it was faster but you can't have everything for $6K

what about the focus scales - what do they go "from" and "to"?

First mark is 1' (but it goes a bit shorter than that), last is 50' before infinity, about a half rotation from end to end.

Close focus by my unscientific method is about 6 inches at 17mm or 50mm.

It wasn't really a shipping email, it was more of a "pay for the lens in full or lose the place in line" email. The shipping date still remains elusive.

Get My 17-50 metric today !

I am very surprised by the weight : very light lens and nice, so, I try a light handheld config with RedRocks rod 15 carbon, Arri FF4, battery and LCD. 12 kilos for the total !
Sorry, no test, because I have to go to the custom tomorow morning for trying to send My Red for the MX upgrade.

Do you have to use a 67mm filter between the lens and the step up ring, or will the step up ring fit on the lens and you can just use the 77mm's on top of the step up ring. Seems like it might bind on the inside of the lens shade part?

you will bind unless you have a very wide step up ring..
