  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Not that anyone noticed my objection about a hundred pages back, but I withdraw my scoff at the idea that the new announcement cameras would be infinitely modular as Jim was hinting

This is the camera system y'all should have made the first time. But if it was a necessary step to get down this path, I'm not holding any grudges. :biggrin:

It's a bummer that you you have to go to bigger pixel size/ resolution to get he extra latitude, but that's physics, and it's a sacrifice that'd almost always be worth it. You'd still be shooting a similar resolution to the Red One.

Extra dynamic range, along with higher frame rates is what I've been looking forward to.

I think it's listed this way so people don't assume they can get the full 6k and full frame out of their PL Mount lenses and feel misled. I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to attach the PL Mount (the mount... er... mounts all look the same until you get to the 617) and just crop. It would be fantastic if you could still get 5K out of S35 PL lenses on the FF35 brains.

It's amazing what RED have done here but am I wrong in wanting to trade my RED ONE in for a $12,000 FF35 Scarlet (or even a $7000 S35 Scarlet)? Still it's fantastic to see RED moving the industry forward by such a huge leap.

No it doesn´t say that it won´t take such a lens, it just says such a mount isn´t included.. (or planned for)
But it must be the most sought after feature, I repeat:

13+ stops, PL mount and 5K+ res (Thats what I need)

my only issue with a s35 scarlet.... no frames rates passed 30fps. I could do 60. But 30 is a deal breaker for me. It sucks that there is no camera in between, with all the infinite possibilities and all...That said I am sure this is one of the things that will change, I hope so at least.

Yes - even if Red don't make a PL mount for the Monstro, someone else could.
Easily. So Red may as well do it, too.

Here, here. I am absolutely STUNNED by what's been shown tonight. Amazed and delighted. But I want 13+ stops, PL mount and at least 4K res , and I only want S35. Jim, I know the sheer HIGH of this must be amazing for you , but I also know that you listen. So I just thought I'd put this out there.

Based on the pricing and features I think you will be looking at the 6K Epic Eirik

Definitely more choices then I expected. Looks look I will be spending more then expected also... :)
 
So if one were to buy the 2/3" Scarlet ($2500)---would it be upgradeable to the S35 sensor? Or is it stuck at 2/3"?
