  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Jim i am truly stunned. What you have announced is probably the biggest thing in filmmaking and art in decades. Im truly gobsmacked and proud for you. today you have announced my dreams. not only FF35 but near 70mm imaging at my grasp.. I WILL shoot a feature on this.

mhh.... the price for a "ready to shot" scarlet seems to be much higher than 3000.- :sad: :sad:

2,500 brain only...
lense, battery, lcd cost extra

How is that silly? It makes alot of sense. Imagine the detail you'll get from that in motion. I'm pretty sure it'll be used as a still more than movie camera and I can not wait to see the samples from it.

It has alot of uses for photographers and movie makers. Need a high resolution backdrop for FX work or high resolution textures, there you go.
 
So.. is this the end of the announcements? Are we getting all the details for each camera tonight?

So far, it has been super until the long sheet fell in. Now, it's a bit confusing. Why are there three of everything instead of one of each, like how Red One is rolling. R1 does 4K, but can crop down to smaller formats.

I guess we will see what these all mean soon.

Still the coolest announcement from a camera company, though.

Also a still photographer I'd expect them to be attending one of the largest Photo Marketing and Trade shows...so what do you think Jim and Red team?!

You planning to show the goods off to the Photo Industry in early March?! I'll be there...I think you should be too...!!!

Well, even when I'm prepared to be amazed, you guys still seem to be able to push that envelope farther than I thought possible. Bravo. Lots to soak in. I'm sure I will confound you with questions. That 617 sensor just screams Imax Immense™ (trademark implied).

It appears one of the Scarlet options has a fixed lens, so hey, I think you'll still get the Scarlet orginally talked about for around $3k.
 
My first thought on 28k: Wow!

My second thought on 28k: Who needs that?

My third thought on 28k: Imagine this one coupled with one of those lenses that take multiple pictures at once - passing focus pulling to the post production. This baby would make this possible *and* get a high resolution.

Just thinking loud :)
 
Personally I'd love to see what the price will be for the fixed-lens Scarlet. That's what'll indicate how close to the original price it's going to be.
 
Under the first scarlet it says "fly by redwire" what does this mean exactly?
 
"No!!!!!" was the only word coming out of my mouth for a couple of minutes!!
I was expecting big and it's HUGE!!!!... To be honest I can't figure the real size of it!!

The remaining question is how can we wait now??

Maybe shooting with the RED One will help!
