Buy or Receive? When do you think we will be able to actually order one?
can we please get a web chat somewhere setup? this refreshing is killing me
Is everyone having fun yet?
Jim
I'm probably behind because it took me a while to type this!
Just to recap, here's what we (seem) to know so far:
1. Generous upgrade policy
2. native Adobe workflow coming
3. Modular system between Scarlet and Epic
4. Lens mount has multiple options
5. Something that looks like a prime lens (presumably part of the modularity)
6. Something that looks like a matte box (presumably part of the modularity)
7. Configurations ranging from DSLR-like to pro-movie-camera-like
8. New sensor or sensors will be part of all this
Observations:
1. Engadget is in the house (hey guys!) - This isn't just about film-makers; the rest of the world is watching.
2. The entire Red team seems to be tuned in (needless to say, congratulations are in order for them: even without the announcements to come, the innovation so far is huge).
3. Jim seems to be taking immense pleasure in taunting us... I suppose there are worse fates than being kept up late by mad genius billionaires!
Speculation:
1. Swappable sensors are part of the modularity?
2. Ground breaking dynamic range on the new sensors?
3. Better than expected resolution for the new sensors?
4. Autofocus? (Seems like this would be needed to compete with DSLR's... impact on motion pictures could be substantial... no more need for external motors?)
5. Update on RedRay?
6. Update on 4K projection?
7. More workflow updates (not that Adobe support isn't huge by itself)?
8. Lots more accessories (part of the new modular system)?
Yes!
First units in August 2009
(my guess)
Wait!!! What happened to our "pocket camera?"
I still want to shoot 3K in ultra-low-profile documentary hotspots...sports...
