  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OMG! it looks like interchangeable, I don't care it is 35mm or 4/3 or mirco 4/3 or just the new RED DSMC mount, waoo!!! SWEET SWEET SWEET.

Damn, how smart was I ha ha haaa (everyone in red just intelligent people ;p).

Look forward for more Jin... best if we can get the date of 'available for pre-order'.

I have to admit, I think this is the best marketing hype I may have seen in my entire live, with exception to maybe Windows 95. (That's a compliment!). I will definitely say this, I do think Red will deliver with the numbers and impress, and make Sony/Panny/Canon take a deep breath. I just hope the cameras ship on time, and there isn't a big long wait pushing it back to Sept or beyond.

My guess is interchangeable lenses and a bigger chip for Scarlet, an even bigger chip for Epic, and greater dynamic latitude for both cameras (like Sony's F35). But who knows? I'm just glad that they are going for what is best, whatever that may be.

I love the fact Red is a private company and can make these changes on the word of an informed design team, not held slave by greedy shareholders looking for more money every month. I wish I worked for a company like this.

Anyway. I'm going to sleep. Info will be waiting when I awake, I'm sure. :calm:

ummm... Check out PlasterCITY Post in LA. I was there over the summer and saw a RED demo reel on their digital 2k projectors. They specialize in RED. One of their head guys (if not their head guy) Mike Cione is actually featured on the RED website quite a bit. Guess they beat ya to it... :-/

ALWAYS ROOM FOR MORE RED SUPPORTERS THOUGH!

After all, this is a total industry-changer/shaper...

So, at this point I have to ask, what makes a Scarlet a Scarlet and an Epic an Epic? If everything is upgradable and modular, where does one end and the other begin? Is the definition between the two strictly sensor size or what?

Whatever it is, it's sure looking good!
 
Oh that is just sick! Dual 12V batteries and it looks like they're inside an expansion module on the back side of the Scarlet body.
 
so, will this Scarlet thing be better than a Canon G10?

In the last render it looks like that "slice" that says Scarlet on it may be the sensor, and I'd bet there is one that says Epic with different guts.

It looks like scarlet is going to be not so cheap anymore. Any guess about price???

Is it me, or did Scarlet just leap beyond the budget of so many who have been watching this process? I hope, and have faith, that is not the case....

I keep trying to calculate how they could make it work near that price point....

We don't know that. Scarlet could be the same price it always was with the same specs, the only difference being the modularity of it all.

But personally I'm hoping for a nice price surprise to be revealed later! :weight_lift:
