Is there a common solution for the bolt thread length (or lack thereof) for mounting the 100mm 1030D on a Dana dolly? The O'Connor tiedown is too deep to catch the threads on the majority of dollies I have used including the Fisher 10. My temporary fix has been to take apart the tiedown and replace the oconnor 'cup' with a handful of large washers. But there has to be a simple/professional solution... right? I could probably hack my tiedown by shaving down the cup, but there has to be something I'm missing out on.

I emailed Vinten about a potential bolt extension, here's what I heard back:

"This is the only bolt length we have. One of the guys said you can buy a Die (size 10 X 1.5 mm) to add threads to another stud"

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I recently had a similar situation with my new Sachtler / Flowtech 100 combo. When I popped the head off the sticks and moved to a hi-hat or dana dolly the tie down threads were too deep to meet up with the bolt. A friend recommended using an older tie down from Sachtler with a more shollow set of threads. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/870812-REG/Sachtler_sk012b0366_Tie_Down_Knob_100mm.html
It works, I now just use this as my tie down on the tripod too.

+1 for the Dana Dolly w/ 100mm Perm bowl. That works great and what I use with my 1030D.

Lots of other dollies out there too, but various levels of price and performance for sure.

Ran into this issue and had a friend machine me a custom tie down. The Dana PERM100 looks solid, but doesn't solve the reach issue on jibs, Fischers, etc. My attempts to find a solution via the manufacturers 10 years ago was a fail. Guess they're still napping...

I have a 1030ds and I found that if you flip the tie-down upside down you can grab those threads with the back of the tie-down instead of the front.

And as long as you have a washer in between you can still tighten it enough to hold properly.
