The other day I watch two films back to back; one was the “The Great Gatsby” (2013) [...].

What a coincidence. I watched the Great Gatsby this past weekend. I hadn't seen it before, but was struck by how beautiful was the cinematography, costumes, and sets and how flat was the writing and, consequently, the acting. I remarked to my wife "you know a film is well written when, many times, you think to yourself 'that's a great line!'. Conversely, you know a film is badly written when, many times, you wonder 'was that a line from the book?'" 8K will never make up for a badly written story, no matter how beautiful the imagery.

I agree the on the Film with you Michael, lacking on the interpretation of the script by the actors, they were spitting out lines, that’s what happens when you make the actors just say lines as written in a book, but on the other hand they had a book to be faithful too, the book was written in 1922 adaptive to the screen for a 2012 audience, that was Baz Luhrmann fault. But the Cinematography by Simon Duggan, with his Panavision Red Camera was outstanding, as was the lighting, costume designs and just about everything else. The Casting by the Director IS AN IMPORTANT PART of any Film. What I was referring too was the difference between the Red and Arriflex Cameras, and their resolution on the Television way down the line.
