I remember Jim saying RED only hires rockstars and i interpret that as the guys who have already made a name as the best of what they do.

so if you want RED employment find something camera related stick with it till youre the best.

To be fair, this is a useful and important thread till a major update comes along. Perhaps Jarred can pop in and answer a few questions and give minor updates off and on, as early on in the thread. Unfortunately, the thread has blown into all sorts of unrelated tangents, so perhaps we should get back on track. In the short term, I am waiting for the footage, as I am sure most are.

It does seem like there's an awful lot going on with the Epic / Tattoo which Red should understandably concentrate on. Perhaps we should wait for Jim's return for the big update. I am not too optimistic, though I would love to see some footage within the next couple of days.

LOL, I was waiting for someone to say that. I'll have to take that up with her before I can do it. But trust me when I say that my Romanian sweetheart is indeed one of God's GREATEST creations.

Better yet; just had a thought. Due to my wife's beauty I think her images desrve nothing less than to be captured by an equally beautiful camera. So what I'll do is use my NEW Scarlet, once it arrives, and take some RAW shots of her and then post'em in a thread, that way I'll get 2 birds with 1 stone.

No offense, and this is not personal, but I think if I hear another reference to DSLRs and shallow DOF I am going to throw up. The obsession with it, especially on this forum, borders on the insane. It's as if no one can figure out how to make a film look good any other way. Enough already! :rant:

OK - I am calm now...

Hear hear! I'm sick and tired of looking at extremely bad focussed DSLR footage. If you can't pull the focus, loose the DOF please...

It's useful for a kind of filmmakers that did't take care more about their picture, story, ...

They can have today even the competitions but there barely you find any value beyond or farer than 30 years old film festivals have got all before.

There should be written:

IT'S NOT ABOUT A TOOL IT'S MORE ABOUT A CONTENT.

BUT RARELY YOU FIND A GOOD CONTENT IN THOSE COMPETITIONS AT ALL...

HAVE A LOOK ONLINE WHAT IS GOING ON THERE RECENTLY...

Also I'm not talking about some of "poor guys" as ASC members that try out to get attention to their work with all those web press and media...
