Red Scarlet is only a "cheap" cinema Camera... It is NOT a Red One or Epic!
unfortunate wording I feel!

What could be really cool, Jarred (not that you're taking requests or anything), is a side-by-side comparison of Scarlet footage vs. a DSLR. I'm pretty excited to see the differences in a 1920x1080 frame (scaled down for the Scarlet, of course).

I think a side-by-side of the Scarlet with the EPIC would be a bit more telling...what do you think?
Why start with the Scarlet/DSLR stuff all over again? This is a good thread, let's not get it closed.
It's roughly a 2.5-stop difference, maybe a bit less than that if the 2/3" Scarlet image is larger than a 2/3" image on an HD camcorder.
So just take an APS-C sensor camera like a Canon 7D or 550D, take some photos (different focal lengths, different distances) all at an f/5.6 and that's probably close to the depth of field of the fixed lens wide-open at f/2.6 on the 2/3" Scarlet for those same fields of view.

At the same focal length? As in a 25mm @ 2.6 on 2/3" is similar DoF to a 50mm @ 5.6 on APS-C?
Or at equivalent FoV? As in a 25mm @ 2.6 on 2/3" is similar in DoF to a 100mm @ 5.6 on APS-C?
I'd think the latter.
Jarred. Some test footage with landscapes (specifically with leaves) would be great!
I have seen the footage from the 7D and close ups look good with all of the shallow dof but when you go wide and need detail in smaller areas it really does not hold up.
