  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

+1 Monitor Adaptor

My current module adapter lives on my camera. Sometimes I use HDMI, sometimes I wish I could run my LCD and EVF at the same time. Will it be possible to have this module adapter live on my camera just as my current one does, and use HDMI, if I'm only using one RED port? Or does just installing this module force the HDMI to be disabled, requiring me to remove it and go back to the other module adapter when I desire to use HDMI out?

Oh.... I guess we lose an HDMI port then? Oh well, there goes my wireless connection.

Yeah, that's too bad. I'd still rather have this than an active HDMI. But still... Am I still crazy hoping for the monitoring options that my R1 gave me 5 years ago? LCD, EVF, HDMI, HD-SDI

That's a good question. It would be ideal to be able to disable the Evf functionality to gain the HDMI again.

Have to agree...very surprised to hear that we lose one monitor channel to gain a second EVF port. Had been vacillating on whether to save up for a RED EVF or go third party, but I think this just makes my decision a little easier. No harm done, and actually much appreciated to make that clear now Jarred rather than waiting till the adapter ships.
Thanks,

-Harry

it uses the HMDI port.

Could we hope for an HDMI passthrough?

About the P tap, I agree that it is not the most elegant solution, the problem is that it's readily available, widely accepted and used throughout. i can easily make a cable myself in a pinch. I wish there was another standard, either a 4 pin Lemo, or a 2 pin Lemo, or something. But you never know what you get, and when you spend a lot of money in cables, and you sell the device that used these cables, they are useless. Not with P tap, at least for now.

If you're really really bummed about losing the HDMI, an option is the new Connect devices from Atomos which can convert an SDI signal to HDMI while providing a loop through for the SDI.

Thanks Bob. It's not really that I'm bummed...just right now I like the ability to have a different overlay on each output independently (clean for ProRes recorder via SDI, Preview for director's monitor over HDMI, and menus on the touch screen.) So really I'm just glad to get the information now. Like I said, not really a big deal...if I ever feel like I really need it all so to speak as far as monitoring goes, I'll pick up the Pro I/O which must have extra processing power to handle all those outputs.

Best,

-Harry

Pro I/O?

Im actually very glad that it use the HDMI, it means it's not much extra tech in the +1 so the price will probably be set accordingly. Also the Pro I/O I find to suck quite a bit of power, as I guess it got it's own image processing thingy in it. Also I always hated HDMI cables so if this thing locks into that port in a mecanical in a nice way then that is, as i see it, very cool.

Questions for Jarred:

Is it possible to runt the +1 and the pro i/o and by doing so use 3 red monitoring options simultaneously?
Also is it possible to use both power outs the one on the pro I/O and the one on the +1 at the same time?
What is the max power out of the +1?

Any news on the price????

Earlier on in this thread - page 13 or 14 onwards.

$1250 (maybe) - Jarred mentions the price will be similar to the rear SSD module (that's currently $1250).

Does this mean that you cannot use the touch function of the 5" LCD?

Willy Faes

Good question!!
I think it is build so you can use both of them in the normal way as touchscreen and use al the buttums on the EFV, otherwise it's useless.......then you better buy a atom HDMI to 2x SDI and a third party EVF...for a lower price!

There probably will not be any more news on this until closer to its release date later next month.
