  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

+1 Monitor Adaptor

You do understand that we are not talking about gear that has been delivered? All these items have been backordered for months.

I just don't understand why Red wants to send its customers gear that they don't want or need, especially when nobody is asking for their money back. But that's just me.

That's a totally different story!
I was referring to sending back the adaptor to get a refund for the +1.

Just not having it delivered, sounds like it should be manageable.

I think it's unfair on RED for us to expect refunds/exchanges for items delivered. But yeah, cancelling a backordered item, should be a different story...surely???? I don't have the module I'm just chiming in. Can't wait for the +1 though, this is my #1 favourite new product released! Can't wait for more details.

only one +1 adapter per camera, remember it hijacks the HDMI port.
I hadn't caught this posted before... when you say it 'hijacks' the HDMI port, does it actually connect into it or just disable it? Since the camera doesn't allow for HD-SDI and HDMI at the same time, and the HDMI port is now "in use," does it also disable the HD-SDI port?

You bought a bundled package...kinda late to say you dont want it. You shouldn't have ordered it if you didn't want it.
You basically received these parts for free...so expecting a store credit is not reasonable. In essence Your telling Red, thanks for the free gift but no thanks...I want a better gift.

Think about what this would mean to Red...they manufacture X number of parts that have all been pre-ordered by customers. Now you dont want your pre-ordered part. So Red would be stuck with all these parts and to add insult to injury, they now have to give you parts that are in demand and could generate additional sales. Its a pretty crappy request. You bought it, suck it up and resell it if you dont want it.

Reds mistake was not charging us the full sale price when they shipped the camera. Instead, they did us a favor and broke down the costs and charged as shipped...but the reality is the module was a gift, so there is no store credit to give us. It just looks that way because we still owe a balance of $1500.

@ Greg

Sorry but i totally disagree with you if we don't reveived our old module adaptor..is in backorder since 6 month. ..Why we have to pay it if we won't use it. This new option that " THE " solution that missing is our configuration...I want use our Old LCD of RED MX on my new EPIC X. that the for QUAT ADAPTOR we can't wait anymore for powered our EPIC we just bougth a V-MOUNT by VIEWFACTOR

I'm totaly agree with Ben jackson

I ordered a Scarlet back in November, then when they released Epic-X in December, I ordered that instead, and my bomb squad rep cancelled my BACKORDERED Scarlet order at my request.

Why wouldn't it be the same here? I don't understand why it wouldn't be. Shouldn't you be able to just cancel your order for anything you don't want that hasn't been delivered yet?

Sure you were paying the full price, so you can get a refund, the people moaning got an Epic X plus accessories for 10,000 plus a 3 year old camera as trade in.
Those same people are dissapointed they find it difficult to sell their new camera for 44k, they paid 27,500 & early adopters got a 2500 accesory discount. They have also used their cameras for upto 4 years. Reality check is needed here.

This module really looks great for the lghtweight MOS shoots that need all the monitoring options... It also makes the Redvolt battery modules much more attractive.

Quick question:

Is the power output regulated?
how much can we pull out of it?
Will it work only when Red volts and Redbricks are used or will it be ok with 3rd party.... (we have Redvolts, Redbricks and for traveling 3rd party V-locks)

thank you

Michael L

I just looked up the price of the vanila module adapter!!! it is only $300 ? I can't believe anyone is expecting this to be upgradeable...

It's not as if they even paid $300 , it was basically a gift!

It wasn't a gift, it was a part of a package that has turned out to be a really good deal - but we did pay substantial dollars to get in the game and wait a long time - so it wasn't free. However, specific to the discussion, I think people need to realize that even though they may be backordered they are in production and were part of the resource allocation so to back out and stick Red with that effort and inventory isn't fair to RED either - and not necessarily good for us either because it would inhibit them in the future on responding to added features that are requested - they would just wait until all the old model are delivered and then announce a new version. This way we get a shot at it as soon as possible.

For those that feel a little burned, I suggest that there will still be a significant used market selling to people that are buying scarlet or epic base packages and want to add modules but don't need the power tap yet. I didn't really want a PL mount with my epic since I virtually never use PL lenses - but it worked out in that I sold it for $1750 - which basically paid for my Optitek Nikon mount and my new Red Nikon mount. In other words, this stuff tends to work out okay.

The way I see it, the current module adapter isn't doing anything for the customer except adding length to our cameras. Originally, I thought a power tap solution would have to be an additional module on top of needing the module adapter. Now we have a solution that replaces the "dummy" module entirely AND we get a bonus viewing port as well. I'm beyond thrilled. Don't buy it if you don't want it, but RED did listen to us and deliver a power tap solution outside of the Meizler module and for that I am extremely grateful.

They should stop making them if they can't sell them. And I would think they will, since there will be so many second hand units for sale at ridiculous prices. Thus the suggestion (not a request) is not crappy, nor is it unreasonable, the logic behind it is sound and people here get overheated for absolutely no reason. The tone of your post comes very close to insulting, so I would ask you to consider what you write.

I agree; the new unit is infinitely more useful than the old one, a great innovation. Worth the price, whatever it will be.

Jarred, can the +1 module adapter and wireless transmitter module be used together? I know the +1 hijacks the HDMI output I'm wondering if that effects the transmitter since the proto I saw in the case seemed to be hooked up to the HDMI port.

+1

The video I saw looked like it was hooked up to the HD/SDI. Although I seem to recall you can only do one or the other.
