  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What is the best solution for 1.8x anamorphic on Gemini? 5k 6:5 2x anamorphic and unfuck in post? Is there a setting somewhere I am missing to get a 1.8 desqueeze on Gemini?

A smallHD monitor (desqueezes for you) and desqueeze in post.

I do this often even on cameras that support whatever anamorphic format as it allows for more control.
 
Really? That's rather disappointing. It seems like a half lame work around. I am sure a DIT could make all of that work for down stream viewing, but what a pain in the ass. Any hope of an update to address? It seems like a not insurmountable hurdle ;-)

Yeah, I've been thinking about this more now that Sirui and Greatjoy have their adapters and lenses out there now so that could bring up some different lens combinations. Since not every camera has a 4:3 mode, just got to get a handy multi-aspect ratio LCD of some kind and desqueeze in post. Odd sizes like 1.6x, 1.5x, and 1.8x could be tricky to find though but it's been a while since I've looked for those features so you'll have to do your research.
