Updating 2 Komodos to 1.4. 1st one went smoothly taking just a couple of minutes. 2nd camera has been hung on “SHUTDOWN: Preparing to shutdown...” mode for over 1 hour. Any suggestions? I can’t think of anything to do other than hitting the off switch, but afraid of winding up with a brick...

EDIT: After being stuck for more than 2 hours, I hit the off switch and it wouldn't power down until I pulled the plug from the AC adapter. Rebooted OK and indicates fw 1.4 installed. Will run some tests tomorrow to see if it's actually OK. Go figure...

I ran into a similar situation updating my Komodo this afternoon. After initial shutdown the camera never rebooted and the power indicator kept blinking red, even after manually hitting the power switch to off. Ultimately (and hesitantly) I pulled the batteries off, waited about a minute before attaching the batteries and powering back on. Update appears to have been successful but was a bit worrisome for a while there.

Best practice would be to power your camera with AC adapter during fw update. You don’t want to go low or run out of battery power during an update...

Somewhat unrelated, but relevant to the 1.4 update, has anyone else had their SmallHD Focus monitor stop being able to connect to camera control after the 1.4 firmware update?

Have you tried other monitoring? I've tried a couple different monitors, numerous cables, and reboots and since this update the SDI hasn't worked.

SmallHD needs to update the firmware still for Komodo's new firmware from what I hear.

It's not just SmallHD... but everything now including other monitoring and even just plugging a teradek into the camera. Did a factory reset and it worked for a bit, now back to nothing.

Wait. Are you saying that there's now straight SDI image off the camera? If so, make sure the resolution is correct for whatever monitor or wireless system you are using.

SDI out shouldn't be busted. Just camera control from what I see.

Yup, tried literally everything with our komodo. From different resolutions (we still monitor 1080p), reboots, different cables (12g), different monitors, factory reset worked briefly like I said, until powering down for a break. Something's up... Made a support ticket. Makes me appreciate DSMC2 where I could just send in the extension module, don't want to be down a camera now if I have to send it in.
