Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
We are finalizing the carrier rollout plan for the launch of HYDROGEN. At this time we need to take down the preorder option... effective this Friday.
All preorders will ship prior to the carrier launch.
We are still determining the exact launch date. Supply chain and carrier certification...
Red Digital Cinema and Leia Inc. announce strategic partnership to bring disruptive Lightfield Holographic smartphone to the consumer market.
Menlo Park, California, Sep 7th 2017 -- Red Digital Cinema, the leading manufacturer of professional digital cinema cameras, and Leia Inc, the leading...
It has been pretty quiet from us since the announcement. That doesn’t mean we aren't Mach 8 hair on fire… just the way we like it.
1. Mikael from Foolcontrol just acknowledged that he will fully support HYDROGEN.
2. "Ground-breaking, barrier-smashing, bar-raising and badass.” JJ Abrams...
Please do NOT refresh your browser from 8:55 to 9:00am sharp so that I can get my post through. Last thing we want is to have traffic block the post. That would be bad.
No need to respond to this thread.
Thanks.
Jim
We anticipate it might be hard to get on Reduser tomorrow morning because of the spike in traffic so we will also post minutes after on our Facebook accounts complete with links to the ORDER page on www.red.com.
It should be a very fun day.
Post will be here at 9am PDT.
Jim...
July 6th. 9am PDT (Pacific Daylight Time). Right here.
You need to be online.
You need to tell everyone you know to be online.
Have your credit card ready.
This is a new product category. It does not impact your RED camera.
Jim
I have been getting a lot of emails and messages about my posting on "other places" about a new project I am working on.
To clarify... Jarred is completely in charge of RED and will be going forward. He is doing such a great job that it has allowed me to work on the future.
There is a new...
Just checking in....
Jarred is amazing. He is the most talented person I have ever worked with.
We have so much amazing stuff coming that it is hard to comprehend.
I just want you all to know that I am still here. I still care. I still work closely with Jarred every day... just behind...
1. Jarred has done a masterful job of leading the the RED team on the Weapon project. And the entire team stepped up like never before.
2. I attempted to teach Jarred everything I knew about everything... it took all of about one hour. :-) Apparently he listened... and then magnified every...
So...
In 2007 I bought a RED ONE with a 4K Mysterium sensor for $17,500. At that time, just for reference, a Sony F23 (2/3" 1080P sensor) was $175K. Plus SR (RGB) recorder.
In 2010 I upgraded to the 5K Mysterium-X sensor for $5750 . I am now in for a total of $23,250.
In 2012 I traded in...
I have said before... I'm tired. I really am.
I started Oakley with $300 and then proceeded to put over 5,000 people to work in California. Against all odds, we passed RayBan in worldwide sales in 1996. I am so proud of what we accomplished at Oakley. Inventions wrapped in art. Thermonuclear...
Let’s see if we can clear up some Dragon misconceptions.
1. The native Dragon sensor clearly shows 18+ stops shot on our Frankie test bed last December which was posted. Obviously, we were excited out of our skull. Stuffing the sensor’s capability into an electronics package the size of a...
I have to say they we have tested just about every combination of lenses with the Dragon sensor and the Leicas win.
This really should be no surprise.
All the Leicas cover the full sensor and have the most resolution of all lenses tested.
While some lenses will necessitate dropping down to...
It has come to my attention that several people have RED tattoos. Post your picture here (or of someone you know) and I will send you something personally.
Gotta love a passionate customer.
Jim
Jarred and I have been posting at the end of another but this news probably deserves its own thread.
The Dragon is out of the lab and in the hands of trained professionals. So far, the feedback is everything we had hoped to hear.
One major league production was going to shoot EPIC MX for...
It is hard to believe what a RED ONE with an MX sensor can be purchased for. One can own the same camera that shot "The Social Network" and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" for next to nothing.
Just sayin'.
Jim
Now that Jarred has posted that it is done... I'd like to offer my take.
The Dragon upgrade to EPIC is as big as it gets. The Dragon sensor skips two generations (maybe three) of sensor development.
Assuming they could actually get here, most companies would demand to make the Dragon a brand...
