    What next on RED?

100% - I love the monitor, but I cannot justify spending that money when I know it's proprietary to DSMC3. I would pay $1500 though because I do really like it, but for nearly $3000, I just cannot justify it personally. That's some serious lens money.

    Cine Saddle version for Komodo

Im curious about this as well

I've Decoded Jinnitech's "How to" video on Third Party Media

If anyone were able to get RED's badge of approval, you will likely make some nice money in the coming years. The DSMC2 cameras still pack a great punch and honestly, considering the prices we see them at now, they're great options for young cinematographers. We just need reliable media for the...

    What next on RED?

I think a 5 inch DSMC3 Monitor is coming before too long. Maybe this fall? I think we're probably due for some firmware updates. Im really interested to see what those have since the nikon purchase. I've heard some bits through the grapevine but not from the horse's mouth yet on that. I think...

Komodo X Best budget cine lens

Phil is pretty on point. On a ultra ultra low budget, the Sirui Nightwalkers are some fun lenses. They have a lot of Chromatic Aberration from T1.2 to T2.2ish so you really will want to stop it down for a lot of situations, but they produce a really nice image for the money. I think they're a...

Wish list. How do you think Nikon and RED’s hybrid camera will be?

I've been thinking about this. If nikon were to make their take on a FX3 style camera with a RED sensor that's around $4000, i think they will grab the attention of many, many people. I would buy one immediately for gimbal work or when I need to travel light. It would be great to have...

    Komodo-X Hot Media

CFx B cards just get very hot since they're made of metal. I've gotten that same note a few times. It's normal and just something to be aware of so you don't drop your media or give yourself a very very very very very very minor burn. You'd likely need pretty delicate skin to run into any issues.

    New RED Approved V-Mounts?

Just to update this thread - I had a chance to use both of these batteries on a V-Raptor and a Komodo-X. They both pass through charge data. The only downside I see to the OMNI is the D-TAP Port placement. Seems they're running Sanyo Cells that seem to be pretty well regarded. I you're running...

    USB-C Port Poor Performance

Im going to do a little test this week with some different cables and see if i can find anything. I have quite a few and ill see if i can find anything!

    USB-C Port Poor Performance

That could very well be the case. I was running it on a gimbal so i was trying to use the USB-C cable supplied with my phone and it may be more optimized for charging vs data.

    USB-C Port Poor Performance

Hey everyone, I've had some issues using the USB-C port with the RED control app. The app will recognize the camera and i can connect but without a video stream even though it's turned on in the camera. After a minute or two I lose the connection and the camera will not find my phone after...

FDTimes - Keiji Oishi and Jarred Land on Nikon and RED

I really don't see Nikon Killing off RED. What making you think that? Everything I see indicates that isn't going to be the case.

    Komodo-X Firmware wish list

One thing to add here. I'd really love to be able to shoot 4:3 without an anamorphic squeeze. I know we have 1:1 but I've had several commercial projects now that are being asked to finish in 4:3 lately. It seems to be getting popular since it crops easier to vertical formats without as much...

    New RED Approved V-Mounts?

Hey y'all, Since both Swit and Core are releasing new batteries with some updated features, do we know if/when they'd be added to the Approved battery list? Do they pass through battery percentage data...

Nikon to Acquire US Cinema Camera Manufacturer RED.com, LLC

I was hoping to be able to make it this year. It’s a good indicator that he took the time to speak with you for that long. I’ve heard a little bit of good chatter about some extra engineering support from the Nikon on the firmware side of things. Hopefully that materializes into some nice...
