Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
The market for other cameras? Which has become quite strongly competitive? (is amazing what you can get for $3K-ish or less these days! For instance Nikon's own Nikon Z8 with: 8.3K 60p N-RAW, 4.1K 60p ProRes RAW, 8K30p and 4K120p Video, 10-Bit Internal)
Or you mean the wider industry market...
HUGE price drop! Surprised there are not a tonne of threads and posts discussing this already. (maybe due to the general dying of forums as conversations move to social media instead? :-/ )
Am curious what is behind this.
1) the manufacturing might of Nikon allowing them to lower costs? Thus...
Heh, I haven't updated my vlog in ages and ages, am posting about once per year it seems, anywhere, here is another quick update from last night's shoot about my setup with how I had it ready to go for a quick change over for how I'm doing this weekend's shoot:
For a OMB Doco with audio done by yourself, then I'd be staying a million miles away from any RED. Even if the audio quality is fine, purely due to the ergonomics of it!
What's wrong with a FX6 / FX9 / C70 / C300mk3??
Just saw this posted on Newsshooter, great stuff, as who wouldn't want their boom to be even lighter?
The new Deity S Mic3 and S Mic3S are out. All the goodness of the S Mic 2 but now even lighter. (by a lot! The S Mic3 is less than half the weight of a NTG3 or 416, the S Mic 3S is nearly half...

I expect RF for 24mm will be coming soon eventually as well.

Am a Sound Mixer who is going to be working with a Komodo soon on a short film, would be handy to know exactly what input connectors and capabilities Komodo has for audio and timecode? Can't seem to see it listed anywhere on RED.com
The large size (15.6"), high resolution (it is actually UHD! Not like these other "4K monitors" which merely mean it can take a 4K input, but are only a 1080 screen in reality), low-ish weight & power demands (2Kg & ≤18W), and various features (SDI / quadview / PIP / etc) all make it quite...
Two new pro sound recorders announced: Zaxcom Nova ($5K)& Sound Devices Scorpio ($9K)

And now for the Zaxcom...
I hope in the future as the VFX tools we have at hand get better and as crew awareness increases then we'll be able to happily have booms in shot much more often for the sake of improved sound. This is already common place on many shoots such as "House of Cards", and advancing VFX technology...
Fantastic news! This certainly is making a secondhand Sony FS700 even more tempting with this very compact external recorder. I just wish this new AtomX SDI also included the functionality of the AtomX Sync as well, to give the FS700 timecode...
Surprise surprise, the Nikon Z6 is still a better and cheaper camera for us filmmakers than the newly announced Canon EOS R!
Sure, it gained 10bit output and log (just like the Nikon Z6), but it basically is still a Canon 5Dmk4 (which means an awful crop, so why bother buying a FF camera in...
Started a new thread for this, as it is an area (timecode!) in which the sound department overlaps with the camera department thus it might interest the camera geeks here as well.
Because I got to try out the NanoLockit for the first time, was impressed with its feature in how it can autodetect...
