  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC Reservations Begin...

bumping again for an answer....

Will my RED ONE that I purchased April 2009 always be worth $17.5k as a trade it to RED if I don't execute an upgrade? So far I've only heard to FF35.... but will it's $17.5k value as a trade in ever go down and when?

You can tell me to F**K off if you want...

Hey Christopher, f**... oh, never mind. My question has nothing to do with that, but I couldn't resist.

I filled out the web form for Stage 2 reservations- but can't seem to get logged into 'my account' on the web store. Did that get moved? Do I remember it wrong? It used to be red.com/myaccount, but that returns a 404. Anyone remember/know the correct way to access 'my account' at the store?

Nils,

thanks a lot for your understanding.

BTW, I do not want any complicated situation between me and RED especially

because of upcoming MX upgrade of my R1 that I need right now desperately.

Also I do not need to rush, force anything or anybody at the moment.

Sanjin and co.. we take warranty violations incredibly serious at RED. If you violate your camera warranty, our generosity goes away. Don't worry Sanjin we still love you, you made your choice and as long as you accept the consequences you are good in our books.

Christopher, we are still mapping out the options beyond stage 2.. Jim will post details when available.

Fairly soon we will list all of the available trade-in and upgrade options for RED ONE owners. Then we will ask for a decision. This program will not open-ended forever.

Jarred,

thanks again for your clarification.

As I stated before here at the forum and at the emails to Bomb Squad RED representatives before

that I did mistake and also accepted all the consequences of that sort of violating R1 warranty.

The first of my acceptance was when I paid in last Fall for audio/new CF slot upgrade that was free for other

users who didn't void R1 warranty and I did not complain about it.

Also last week here accepted that my RED1 was already "executed" and don't have right to get EPIC-X upgrade.

And I do not have any big problem with it.

Again this was my mistake and I do not have anything to hide about that.

genetic predisposition...

genetic predisposition...

Wow. While I'll never admit in PUBLIC to being a dumbass, it's clear I have the genetic predisposition...

thanks.

I'm sorry to tell you Greg, I win the championship award for dumbass. I've owned my RED for over a year now and I've only shot some ducks with it.

When you say fairly soon, do you mean before the April 30th deadline for stage 2?

Hope this doesn't come across in a negative sense towards you guys at all, because it isn't meant to be at all, but I am completely baffled as to the logic behind warranty violations affecting trade-in credit for cameras that aren't actually going back.

Not a big deal, probably just my emotional response overriding my logical response. Thinking about it logically, Sanjin (and any other Red One owner) isn't owed any credit for being a Red One owner, so the fact that anybody is getting a discounted rate is more generosity that one should expect

And I guess ultimately if people want to be the benefactor of a companies generosity, they probably ought to play by the companies rules regardless of whether they are agreeable terms for the end user.

I think I need to go to sleep.

Stage 2 selected :)

Here's hoping Red One #378 is called up soon for its M-X upgrade, otherwise there may not be enough time between the two to make it worthwhile....

Cheers,

Paul

I want to formally echo this question...Given all the current variables in the selection process of different stages, plus the ramifications of not being able to fulfill payment when payment is due and finally not really knowing the latest details of the Scarlet program, I'm having a real hard time making a conscious decision in any direction... and feeling worse the more I think about it.

Can we have a bit more time before having to pull the trigger on Stage two, say at least until the 'major' announcement of Scarlet has been released to the public.
Best,
Eli

I Agree. Even though my RED One qualifies for Epic upgrade, I am still not sure if that's the way I want to go. Would be great to have some more info on the Scarlet S35 before pulling the trigger.

Hmmm. I'm not sure what scarlet has to do with the stage 2 upgrade... If you're conflicted between epic and scarlet, would it not make sense to hold off for stage 3 anyway?

It's been said before, but the reason RED is most likely conducting the limited stage 2 window now and with the restrictions is so they can get a list of those who are totally serious and committed to the stage 2 option, regardless of scarlet or other future camera offerings.

And I as a future Epic owner, and not a R1 owner, am jiggling up and down nervously like a 7year old that has to go pee really bad, thinking can't we get through stage 2 & 3 any faster please!?

There are so many diffrent variables involved in taking a desicion like this, specially when there will be so many RED cameras to choose from, that the amount of possible scenarios people is facing must be infinite.

But in my case:

1. I need my DSMC system ASAP, where stage 2 seems to be the way.
2. Scarlet could perfectly fullfill my needs.

I know for me that I want to upgrade to the Epic ASAP because my business is based around rentals and I need to keep up with the times. However, I still need to figure out a budget, and vague info like "$1500 1.8" SSD module" doesn't tell me how much the actual SSD drives are going to be and therefore makes it very hard to figure out what I need to keep from my RED and what I need to sell with it.
