  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anyone got any hobbys other than film & video?

I played Golf once and my friend, who is a pro golf teacher, told me that I had talent. Don't know if that counts.

Anyway, love repairing stuff - especially without a manual. Photography. Webdesign. Design. Moderating. Kids. Nature. Walking / Skiing (depends on the time of year). Politics. Good movies. 8mm and 16mm transfer. Cinema. Would love to learn Poker, but just haven't found time for it yet. Reading. Staying up - way too - late. Swimming. Trying new things. Watching light. Typography. Photoshop. After Effects. Sound design. But my favorite hobby remains filming stuff/people/nature.

I play the drums, have for almost 25 years now, and the piano which I started playing at age 5 but took a back seat when I started the drums a few years later. Having a musical background really is an asset to my roles in post production. Music is my passion and I am thankful I don't make a living at it.

I also spend a ton of time and energy restoring a late 1800's house and it's sprawling gardens, from wood working to utilities.. the works. Gardening is what keeps me sane after long days in a dark room. I also hunt and fish.

Wow so much diversity here. I love how some of these hobbies could not be farther away from video work (which is a good thing).

I actually have degree in violin performance. My wife and I played in quite a few orchestras during college but we only play occasionally now that we have a 1 year old daughter and she is the personnel manager of the San Diego Symphony.

I free dive hunting octopus with my bare hands (use to use a 3 prong spear).
I also have a garden and grow food. Otherwise, I work too much to have too many hobbies...

wow guys! thats awesome, definetly all VERY intresting hobbys! I do play the piano by the way haha.

@Jon Carr: What was your first muscle car? What year? condition ect...?

You guys are too funny!

cool! you are right about having a musical backround as an asset in post!

We own a few houses and the one we are working on is a 1912 farm house right by the river valley:], tons of fun with knob & tub wiring!...not

I have too many hobbies. I never know which to do at any given time. (But, I am never bored......)
I fly light planes, do astrophotography, we have a large organic garden, I make ale and as of this last season now make wine (hey, it's Napa Valley, it's required) We have a neighborhood band in which I sing and play the guitar and now the drums. (no, not at the same time......) paintball when I can find the time and cooking.

Collecting TB drives seems to be my most recent hobby. I have several German autos of the last century I am working on, or have restored, in one form or another. BMW 3.0cs, 327/28, Mercedes G-wagen, and 1950 VW Beetle. Oh, an a 1901 Colonial revival that diverts cash and energies.

@Jon Carr: What was your first muscle car? What year? condition ect...?

Well its a 1986 Buick Grand National, a little piece of modern day Muscle. I would say its about 65% fully restored. I fully rebuilt the Motor, Trans, Rear, front and rear suspension. Some upgrades are a 4 wheel discs, Fast XFI computer, alcohol injection. It puts down 400hp now with no alky. One day I plan on doing a full off frame restoration and install a cage and a Buick STAGE II twin turbo setup... One day though. But by the time that happens I would of owned an Epic for a long time. There's a link below of what it looks like.

wakesurfing, surfing, wakeboarding, shaping surfboards, designing furniture, photography, and preparing for RC heli, etc. etc.

My most recent hobby is tuning my r53 mini cooper, just got done putting in a 4 pt. roll bar, exhaust, CAI, etc. Basic tuning until I get a 2nd car, then the big guns come out and it gets prepped for full on racing :). Other than that I build home theater installations and have been doing medium and large format photography.

Jon, is that a GNX in your sig?

hey Jon,
If you're pushing up in the 400bhp area did you upgrade the tranny? I've seen tons of people how will only fix up the body and interior and just add new billet parts and port the intakes and new cams and carbs, but then finally take it out for a ride and give it there all and blow the tranny to pieces! hahaha, niced car though =]

Pretty much the only thing I haven't upgraded yet is the car's interior. The trans was the first thing I ripped out of the car. It's completely rebuilt to race, so is the rear end and the engine's bottom end. Heads have also been ported. Once I start the full off frame restoration, I'll put a turbo 400 in it to handle the new STAGE II motor. And the rear end has already been built to handle the low 9s in the 1/4.
