RED ONE M-X Sensor Upgrade Program

I'm 137. Can't wait for that email.

Any word on if we can upgrade the sensor after stage 2. Haven't seen this answered yet.

Not exactly sure what you are asking. If you want to keep your RED ONE and upgrade the sensor... no problem.

Wondering if we can hold off on upgrading our RED ONE sensor until after participating in stage 2. I'm thinking yes, but haven't seen anything relating to particulars such as if the RED Rocket™ bundle will be available and if there will be order delivery dates effecting the process at that point.

Doesn't seem to be many headed in that reverse order of things.

Thanks

Jochen,

Amen.

E. :-)

I really hope the upgrade program will be handled in Pinewood as well.
Dont want to go through another US/EU-customs epic.

All the best,

Jochen
Yeah, I hear you. I'd love for it to be done locally here too (Seika DI are supposed to be the Red Service centre for Asia now) but I'm guessing it'll be unlikely, at least for #378, since they've been rather slow to get up to speed here.

Only plus is that with the previous experiences I now know exactly how to go about it so we minimise the screwing around by customs.

Cheers,

Paul

Yeah, that is what I was going to do originally since I didn't want to spend the $8750 on the bundle and then not have enough $$ to buy my stage 2 Epic. Remember, as it is now, if choose stage 2 and don't pay the $19,500 within 30 days of the email, you forfeit all future trade-in rights.

It would be a lot easier if those who do the M-X upgrade could get a few more months from when their number comes up to execute stage 2.

I am going ahead with the M-X upgrade now since I will be able to borrow some $$ if I don't have enough when my stage 2 Epic is ready. But not everyone has access to friends / family with an extra $10k to borrow.

I second your request, it would ease a lot of things and split the work load for RED as well.

Mr. Jarred or Mr. Jannard,

When is the time in which it's possible to buy a Red One with the new sensor? That will be after the Trade-in phase, in preference to the current owners of Red One, is that right?

Any estimated date?

A new RED ONE with a M-X sensor in it will not be sold by RED until all existing RED ONE owners have had the opportunity to upgrade to M-X. No estimated date.

Brent, to follow up on what others have been asking, if a currant R-1 owner chooses not/cannot upgrade when their time comes, they can at the very least move to the back of the upgrade line? Yes?

I see.
and what if I buy a Red One today?... so when i just have the camera, could send it back to you to update to the M-X? The Trade-in stage is only for current owners i know but, for "new buyers"?

Yes... you can buy a new RED ONE today.

Yes... you can send it back for an upgrade but you'll be at the back of the upgrade line.

Jim,

If I purchase a RED One this coming week, along with a set of Pro Primes, would I be correct in thinking that I will have a chance to move up to an Epic S35 after earlier serial numbers and (stages 1-3), but before non-red one owners (stage 4)?

An answer on this would really help me make some important decisions.

Peter

In the October 30th post it states:

"All RED Ones purchased and paid for on or before October 29,2009 qualify for the stages"

I think we can safely assume this statement excludes Stage Four because that is the stage for anyone not a RED One owner (or more accurately not a RED One owner prior to October 29, 2009).

Bottom line: don't count on it.

Peter,
You should just rent one of mine... ;)
Cheers,
Harry
