Here is the ISO 4000 file in 2.2K (Jarred will post it). To recap:

This is a RED ONE with the new Mysterium-X sensor.

I turned out all the lights in the garage so it was pitch black... really. Then I lit the chart with my iPhone and free app called "Just Light"... not very bright. You can download it yourself and do this same test. Don't cheat... you need a pitch black room.

We used Graeme's new test app (RAND) with our new color space (REDcolor), our new gamma (REDgamma) and a touch of Graeme's new secret NR sauce (very mild)... like milk chocolate.

Next week I'll do the same test at ISO 800 to show you what the new sensor can REALLY do.

I seriously can't believe it...This is amazing, and I can't wait to shoot with it.

Is 4000 ISO the maximum you will allow users to push ISO on the new Epic/Scarlet/RED upgraded to M-X? Just curious. Looks amazing, BTW ;-)

Looks like we can open it up past ISO 4000... :-)

THANKS!

THANKS!

Now I'm REALLY impressed. THANKS for posting this- I can't wait to see what ISO 800 looks like. And now you've got me very curious about the things you've got cooking - 2010 is going to be an EPIC year! It will be great to get this M-X sensor into my Red One.

Jim, these demos have been really impressive. It has been breathtaking to see how clean the blacks are and how much of the highlight detail is preserved. Bravo to you and the whole team.

I think the candle demo was especially remarkable given its color temp. Do you know what the color of the iPhone light app is?

@Jim - alrighty then! I downloaded the Just Light app...

iPhone 3G* - max brightness, screen protector, with "Just Light" app
Sekonic L-398 Studio Deluxe incident meter, globe diffuser

1 foot distance - approximately 6fc
zero distance (to globe surface) - approx. 40fc

* Rough (Canon) DSLR test shows it neutralized @ approx. 5700k .

.. that's just my gear. :)

Thanks for that. Do you have a color temp meter?

I don't have that r3d here (I move around a lot) but I think I remember around 6500K. Jarred did the motion work...

Delicious.

800 is going to be...hyperbolic.

Projected release date of the MX upgrade for R1 users?

Idea:

Stage 1- I pay for the M-x upgrade in R1 and shipping.
Stage 2- I send back the R1 and you put the M-X from the upgraded R1 into the Epic, take the balance of payment.

Come on! We can all win on this one!

:)

That makes sense -- it's an led screen. Thanks for that. It's remarkable how little difference in noise there is between this and the candle.

As the debayering tries to accurately recreate what was there, is the NR 'built in' in a sense?

Graeme's secrets are safe with us... :-)
