  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Meet Snappy @ ISO 800

I'm sorry if this has been asked before (I've been trying to keep up with posts, but some have pry slipped by)... With the M-X Upgrade, will boot up times still be the same? Or will we get faster boot ups?

Thanks

ORIGINAL POST: The boot up times will be significantly faster, with an even faster boot-up time when it is in "Standby" mode.

EDIT: Oops. I meant on the EPIC and Scarlet, there will be a faster boot-up.

Thanks Emmanuel for the correction. :thumbup1:

Let's call it the REDMOTE PRO PRO.

Now there's a thought. Why have only the brain modular? What about having upgrade paths for your various modules as well? If you want the REDmote Pro, you can have it. Later, when the light meter becomes available, you can add that to your remote you already have!
:cheers2:

Are you sure you are quoting the R1 here and not talking about the EPIC. I'm not sure an upgraded R1 would be have a faster boot up because of the sensor swap.

I'll have to leave that to you computer wizards. I can't even download the file. It just downloaded straight into Quicktime and played for me (at a 2:1 aspect ratio). I can't find any way to download the .mov file anywhere.

Stephen

The way to open the file in Quicktime is to right-click the picture posted by Jarred in Post #1. After the right-click, it will give you several options. Choose what should be the first, the "Open with Quicktime Player". Then, you can use the shortcut "COMMAND I", it will pull up what's called the "Movie Inspector". The long way of going to the Movie Inspector is go to the "Window" dropdown menu and click "Movie Inspector.

Does that now make sense? :D

...and look how nice the rolloff is.

yes, indeed - that was my first reaction - this is one smooth image.

I thought that roll-off was also largely a result of lens selection. What lens did you shoot Snappy with?

"footcandle" should be retired along with "furlong" and "avoirdupois" -

I don't know what any of those are, either.

Joseph,

I don't think the M-X update will have any influence on the boot-up time of a R1.

I wish you were right thought :)

Merry Christmas to all…

I don't know. Looks amazing yes, but I shot handheld R1 for an hour yesterday and I'm still feeling the effects today! Epic all the way! :emote_happyhappy:

Jim,

I'm just wondering how much lighter Epic will actually be than an R1 once you have modules in place. Initially it was discussed being about four pounds lighter, is that still an accurate assessment for handheld?

Once when you start "kitting" your Epic then you would finished with almost the same weight as a RED1 full outfitted or any other digital cinema camera especially if you have a front heavy prime or zoom lens.

EasyRig 3 Cine or EasyRig Variant 4 is only way to go...

Oops. My bad. See the edit above. Thanks for the correction. I stayed up all night working on a project and need some sleep ASAP. :leaving:

P.S. Merry Christmas to you too. May God bless us, everyone.

Every pound saved will be nice- but I too have my doubts about how much lighter the Epic will be once it is build for production use. For personal solo use, I could see saving quite a bit of weight by keeping the modules to a bare minimum. The scarlet on the other hand, looks like it will be a lot lighter.
