  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Which wireless video for steadicam

Maybe you dont read posts carefully. What I said was that I dont believe that thats is possible FOR MOST GENERAL CHEAP TX RX. That means there might be some like yours for instance that it is possible. and I will try it out.
Just for your knowledge I have used more than 6 different 2.4 , 900, 474 wireless tx rx.
Best performance I ve ever got was from the low 474 mhz and you dont need a reciever either. nor hifh wattage , as I said I dont want 2w microwaves frying my head.
Have you ever tryed double diversity recievers before? You will find they make a big difference.
Cheers

BOXX

Hello,

This is Scott from BOXX.TV.
Just thought it would be good to update everyone with a few new features.

- Our new firmware will transport time code via the SDI/HDSDI as well as record trigger start/stop. This will be compatible with Qtake and is due for release Feb 2010. Boxx Meridian is the only HD microwave system to transmit time code.

-Transmitters now have removable antennas and can be bent through 90 degrees for low clearance shooting -We have a high gain receiver which has a range of around 150m -Each transmitter will broadcast to an unlimited number of receivers and each receiver can switch between transmitters.

- Up to 11 channels available for more reliable transmission

- Headphone audio monitoring on hand-held receiver

- Transmitters and receivers can use any format including HD-SDI, SDI, component, composite.

- All receivers now simultaneously down converted any HD signal to composite. While the director gets an HD picture, the composite out can be plugged into an analog transmitter to rebroadcast the signal around the set. As the analog transmitter is now not moving in space, the quality is very good and zero delay.

- Receivers and transmitters are available with v-Lok, Anton Bauer or Velcro mounts

360 degree view of product.

Gefen Wireless HDMI Extender

"The First Wireless HDMI Extender featuring Cable-Free High Definition Extension up to 30 Feet.

The Gefen Wireless HDMI Extender is the perfect solution for sending up to three High Definition AV sources
to any one location without the hassle of wires. The Gefen Wireless HDMI Extender is able to accomplish this
by employing Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology to send the large amounts of data required by the HDMI standard.
Up to a 30 foot line-of-sight distance (less if going through a wall to an adjacent room) is achievable with resolutions of up to 1080p@30 supported...

How It Works

The Gefen Wireless HDMI extender uses a simple send-and-receive methodology.
A local sender unit is paired to a receiver unit at the remote location.
All communication sent between these units is done using wireless signals.

In practice, you will connect up to 2 HDMI sources and 1 Component source to the transmitting unit.
The display, with optional analog audio, will be connected to the receiving unit.
Once the included power adapters are connected and the display and sources are turned on,
you will be able to enjoy High Definition video at your wireless remote location.

To switch between the available inputs, you will press the input selector switch located on the transmitter's front panel.
Alternatively, you can use the Automatic Switching feature that monitors the HDMI input ports and switches to either one
when an HDMI source is turned on. When an HDMI device is turned off, the Gefen Wireless HDMI Extender will automatically
switch back to the last source viewed. To switch to the component input, simply turn off both of the connected HDMI sources,
and the Extender will automatically display the component video.

HDMI signal over RG-59 or RG-6 coaxial cable are supported via optional SMA adapter kit."

Hi everyone, since no one has post in this thread since 2 years, I was wondering what are our options as of today?

I'm looking forward to built a steadycam set up and it already made me some headache to go over the whole question of the wireless follow focus system...

Now I'm wondering about transmitting video from the flying steadycam... For video village, aka the DP and director, but moreover for the focus puller > means a system with an image decent enought to know where the focus is...

Any preferences from ACs working with steadycamer?

thanks in advance everyone

Julien

For a very cheap solution, I use the Bright-View HDMI transmitter. I just plugged it into my DTap with a voltage regulator and presto... Lightweight wireless HDMI up to 40-50 feet reliably for less than $250. Thus I get a full 1080P for follow-focus on a 21 inch remote monitor. I have also hooked the receiver up with a 19 inch LED HDMI monitor off of DTap for a portable follow focus unit.

None that I can perceive. I got it for remote focus on my Jib and Steadycam for my Canon 5D (HDMI). I figured it was worth the risk of $250, and I was amazed at how well it worked.

Here is the video I saw that got me to try it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcfKAvvSylQ

With a couple of parts from RadioShack, it was batery powered, and Velcro'ed to a cheeze plate with 15mm clamps and good to go.

There is a detailed test report about Brite-View Air Sync HD on Steadicamforum by William Demeritt. It looks great for the price.

Steven,

it looks like a great way of having the job done for cheap…

Now, I'm a bit nerdy, but I'm not an electric guy for sure… Could you be more specific about the way of powering the sender device. I understand it's a consumer device meant to be AC plugged, right?

I'm sorry I'm more a post-guy, and a bit newbie with pro-gears… You plug it onto a Dtap? So you're powering the stuff from a batterie solution like this one:
http://www.viewfactor.net/index.php/products/cages/contineo-battery-plate-no-cable.html ?

But it requieres modification to plug in the AC, am I understanding right?

thanks in advance

Julien

Julien,

Both the transmitter and reciever are powered with 5 Volts DC input that the AC adapter provides. So, you do not need the AC adaptor at all. I put a 5 Volt Regulator in a small plastic box (wiring diagram on the regulator package), wired the DTap to the input and the power plug on a wire coming out to the transmitter for power. You do need a heat sink on the regulator and a small capacitor on the output (again, the diagram is on the regulator package). Everything is in my storage unit, but I will get it and take some photos to post tomorrow. Whole thing took about an hour to assemble.

If there is any interest, I will hook it up this weekend and film a test with my Scarlet.

Steven, it would be awesome if you have that kind of time :)

Thanks for sharing this infos. It really helps. Any pics/visuals are appreciated, but this is already helping.

Thanks!

FYI, we'll have something releasing next week in the $2k-$3k range depending on features(hdmi, hdsdi). Figured to let you guys know.

Interesting, do you have some more info already ;)?
