  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Which wireless video for steadicam

Jacek,
Do you have updated pictures and specs of your unit? There isnt any info on your site and all I can find is the one youtube video from a while ago.

Email me Ryan and I'll get you some newer images.

Here are some photos of the wireless setup on my hand-held rig and the 5 volt regulator with the DTap power connector. The total price of this setup for true 1080P wireless is less than $275.

Thanks for the pics and the detailed axplenation Steven. Glad you gat a new reference for a regulator in the meantime...

Hi vinny, looking good! Will it also be possible to have multiple receivers?

Here you go...... RECON Wireless HDMI system starts at under $3k, the Ultra system giving you HDSDI and HDMI inputs will retail in the low $3k's.

The RECON wireless looks great. Is it available already?

In the mean time I keep my investigation on the Brit-View Air SyncHD cheap sollution...

I'm not good at understanding electrical componants, so a little help would be appreciate.

If I want to power the Air SyncHD from a V-Mount Batterie (on a steadycam) (btw, Vinny, it is a switronix :wink5:)...

Can I go with that:
http://www.viewfactor.net/products/epic-scarlet-acc/ptap-usb.html
the PTAP-USB converter to convert the voltage from 12v to 5v

and then go with that:
http://www.amazon.com/3-5mm-Barrel-Jack-Power-Cable/dp/B003059FAI/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1330119555&sr=1-1
in order to go from USB to jack DC 5v?

Is it going to work? I understood the device requiere 2amps, and I don't know if the viewfactor PTAP-USB provides 1 or 2 amps...

Also Steve, when you buit your 5v regulator, what kind of size did you use. In my previous link, it's a 3.5mm jack, but I saw that there is several other sizes (5.5mm / 2.1mm ...) and I couldn't find the info on Brit-View's website... Which size would be the one?

Thanks in advance!

Julien,

Both the transmitter and reciever are powered with 5 Volts DC input that the AC adapter provides. So, you do not need the AC adaptor at all. I put a 5 Volt Regulator in a small plastic box (wiring diagram on the regulator package), wired the DTap to the input and the power plug on a wire coming out to the transmitter for power. You do need a heat sink on the regulator and a small capacitor on the output (again, the diagram is on the regulator package). Everything is in my storage unit, but I will get it and take some photos to post tomorrow. Whole thing took about an hour to assemble.

If there is any interest, I will hook it up this weekend and film a test with my Scarlet.

Hi, has anybody ever tried the Gefen wireless HDMI extender ? It's one of the only ones I've found that is supposed to have a multicast mode which makes it possible to send the feed to multiple receivers. 100 feet range is pretty decent too. Only downside I see, it looks pretty big... A bit more expensive than other similar systems, around $1000, which is still pretty low.

Would love to hear some feedback on this one !

I have a Switronics Recon Ultra on order. Has anyone tried one lately? Takes HD-SDI and HDMI. Pretty cheap considering and a very nice company to deal with.

Hello Robert,

Let me know who you have one on order with and I will get you an ETA.
