So, what is #21? I'm sure I want it, whatever it is...

Oh, and the HDR stills mode is pretty fabdabulous. Why is no one commenting on it?

Agreed! HDR stills mode sounds awesome. Timelapse HDR FTW!

REDmote Pro and RedRay Pro look absolutely stunning! Wow, nicely done all around. Can't wait for the releases. This is the REAL Thanksgiving!!!

I thought I had but I guess that was in the post that got eaten by a timeout.

ummm, that redmote pro is on the back of the fixed.... but says 4k raw?

As a photographer I have to say the Red Station popped out to me. I currently use the Lexar Firewire 800 CF readers (4 of them stacked). But the option of esata is a real big plus to me. Is there any word on READ speed you are getting with Esata on these readers (with say a 300x + card?)

I love the look of HDR. Even when pushed to the limit. But then, I'm big CGI geek....

Look? Wait... that's a good question. What's the HDR output going to be? Are we talking tonemapped HDR or linear HDR? I'm hoping 16-32bit lin.

Sad news. Now Scarlet fixed-lens is completely unaffordable for me! Nice idea to increase the cost by over 25% in this crap economy. Oh well, now I can safely move on without having to wonder if I might be able to afford one. Don't get me wrong, it's a brilliant camera, it's just not one I (and thousands of others) will be able to afford. Looks like students and low budget filmmakers (NOT PROS) will carry on Red-free. If you're a professional filmmaker (i.e. you make money with your films) you need not reply. I'm addressing those of us without deep pockets to afford such gear. Sad times indeed. Perhaps some day Jim will get back to that camera for the 'soccer moms' (i.e 'the rest of us').

Well, I make no (big) money with Filmmaking yet, but will somehow manage to get two Fixed packages (and a Pro remote if the knob means follow focus)

Redmote pro,, there's the answer I was looking for

A Cam should be mounted to a Tripod or another device to carry it. For Handheld that would be Handles. Or the RedGunner. That's how i get it at least...

I had the same thought as Ben Holmes... there are a lot of us who intend to run around with these things hand holding them...

They're selling it as a DSMC... with the idea that there WILL be MANY people who will NOT be mounting it on a tripod or on a standard handle rig.

And I have to agree... it looks really blocky... I hope perhaps with the bottom handle it'll be relatively comfortable to hold...

But I think it's a valid question. Have the Red folk been out messing around with these for a period of time just holding them in their hands?

The Scarlet fixed 8X will in particular be judged against cameras like the 5D mark II when it comes to this sort of form-factor debate.

Obviously the FF35 Scarlet or the S35 scarlet... with a bunch of modules attached... will be a different situation calling for proper shoulder mount or handle mount or tripod or whatever you like...

but there's a large part of the smaller scarlet's market who are going to want to fling this thing around like a pimped up DSLR and I sincerely hope it can do that without feeling and looking too awkward.

So, will the 2/3" and the S35 be released at the same time or is there a separate roll out for each respectfully?

Mike, $I understand that $5k is expensive (probably $6-7k with that pro-looking Redmote and the inevitable rails and handle accessories)...but look at it this way, you'll be able to rent it for about the same price as a Sony EX-3. If you're broke, it might be worth working towards making sure your computer can run RedCine and getting skilled with the available sample footage, so you can bring your imaging skills to a set and make some more cash, or be ready to handle the output if/when you rent.

Look like there some kind of handgrip on the right side...

But what about all the sharp angles on the nearside?

You know what - nevermind. It's late here and I've been working all weekend - so I'm just being cranky. I look forward to seeing all the other shots of it, and being proved wrong - apologies. Move along.

REDMOTE PRO Question.

Do we have to buy two REDMOTEs to use it off-camera or does the REDMOTE PRO talk to the camera via the WiFi?

The answer is actually both... all REDMOTEs are wireless.. so you can have just one and use it on and off camera. But, REDMOTEs are also Master/Slave programable.. so you can have multiple REDMOTEs per camera if that is how you want to roll... :)
