(1) Clear your minds from anything previously projected by the RED Team concerning the DSMC.
(2) Don't expect handouts.
Hey Guys, first of all I would like to ask that you guys not think I am trying to be an elitst or a "it's gonna be all doom-and-gloom" kind guy when you read this.

(a) Before you guys read today's announcement, I beseech you that you please clear your minds from anything that's been said about the Scarlet's projected release dates and the Scarlet's projected specifications.
Some people felt discouraged/angry/abandoned after the October announcement. I believe the cause of this, was the false expectation that was placed upon RED.
Yes, RED had projected the Scarlet's release earlier this year. But, yes, RED has always maintained that their specs and delivery dates are subject to change...count on it. If you don't like this method of business, we don't hold that against you. But what I don't particularly care for, is when people who aren't paying customers to RED, believe that Jim Jannard has "promised" them such and such camera for such and such price at such and such a time. In reality, pretty much the only thing that Jim has promised is:
So, please do your best to clear your minds/expectations of the DSMC and you will not be disappointed.

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone with a bad attitude.
So, please do your best to clear your minds/expectations of the DSMC and you will not be disappointed.
(b) R&D (research and development) costs are way beyond what any of us might expect or imagine. These costs go up yet even higher when there are unexpected glitches such as an "ASIC issue" during the construction of the DSMC.
RED is not only building a sensor and a body, but almost a plethora of modules to make this a reality.
With all of these costs, why should anybody expect/beg for handouts? (I'm not attacking anyone personally, in fact I can't think of a specific name as I type this)
I would like to see RED succeed in what they do, and the plan for this to happen is not to lose money on every sale just people entered a username and password to log into a forum.
If RED feels like they want to be generous and give the early adopters who had faith in the alleged (vaporware), I think "they didn't have to do that, nor did they necessarily owe it to the early adopters". But at the same time, I rejoice with those early customers who will be the beneficiaries of those blessings.
