Hee, hee. Actually that's a Phantom v10 camera. The production's art department contacted munitions test labs to find out what sort of equipment they use, and then contacted Vision Research to get some prop cameras. These are actually brand new empty camera body housings that VRI put together so they'd be nice & pretty for the movie.

On display in the rental area of the Abel office in NY is the "Anaconda" Aaton LTR. It's an empty shell camera body that Ice Cube carried in the movie.

LOL. Mitch, you didn't have to spoil the party! :incazzato:

LOL It's middle of the month already, can we have half the picture, then? The middle half?

What would really make me happy is a FedEx tracking number for a fixed lens Scarlet on December 1st. I'll even take a tumbled aluminum, beta unit. Taking a little family holiday and about to buy a 7D just so I don't have to carry one of my existing SLRs and the Sony HD handycam POS. ...save me.

Oh great and benevolent Red overlords. Please deliver the Scarlet S35 by May in time for my backpacking trip across Europe :)

Do you really want me to take video with a 5D? :D

5 Axis Adjustable Sensor Plate / tilt-shift?

5 Axis Adjustable Sensor Plate / tilt-shift?

Ok this may be an ignorant question, but in going back over the list of great new details at the head of this thread, this line:

5 Axis Adjustable Sensor Plate

made me wonder:
Can the sensor be adjusted on a slight tilt to create a similar effect to using tilt-shift lenses? I.e., will a non-perpendicular sensor plane give us controllable selective focus? And will the sensor plate adjustment controls be easily accessible on a built-up camera, to allow for this?

How fun would that be... :smile5:

No, this is an ignorant question: WTF is a "5 Axis Adjustable Sensor Plate"?

No, seriously... I have no idea what that means. Little help?

The sensor is mounted on a plate that can be moved along five axes. One purpose of this is to allow adjusting the back focus for different types of lenses, since Scarlet/Epic will accept so many. Sean Solowiej is also wondering if it can be used to accomplish tilt-shift photography. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilt-shift

Maybe this has been answered in this thread, but I don't have time to wade through 1600+ posts ;)

From the renderings, it would appear that the Epic/Scarlet battery systems are NOT V-lock compatible.

Can someone from Red please confirm that?

Thanks!

I would think that 5-axis adjustment means that it can be positioned:

- fore/aft (for correct backfocus depth)
- north/south & east/west (for correct centering)
- left/right yaw and top/bottom pitch (for correct planarity to the lens mount)

Epic and Scarlet batteries are not V-Locks, but you can use V-lock batteries with a belt clip or craddle on Epic and Scarlet if you so desire.
