Cooke S4/i Lens Data?

Can anyone tell me why the Lens Data of this lens is not showing up on the display despite the fact that I've followed the instructions in the manual? I'm using Build 20.1.3.

I'm having the same issue here. Decided to see how that feature looked, and presto....nothing....so yeah any information to this would be greatly appreciated.

Build 21.0.2 mentions that it updated the /i data firmware support to v2.29. Maybe try that and see if it works?

Thanks, that is something that over the weekend we decided to try. So I just upgraded to 21.0.2, and still nothing. So I was going to pull a few more lenses and try some more then the 3 that I've tried on Friday. Also looking at the Cooke website to see if we need to update anything with the lenses. I'll post more when I'm done...

Yeah I just looked through our stock of lenses, and I didn't see any cooke red lenses. We have some RED primes, but those don't have the connectors....still have yet to check the firmware for the lenses them selves...hummm think I would need the S4/i data box???

There is a service bulletin from Cooke regarding this.
In order to work with Red, the lens chip needs to be firmware updated, even in Build 21. This can be done via the Cooke ftp, if you have the special Cooke cable and a Windows machine (ugh), or you can bring your lenses to the nearest service facility or rental house and they can do it.
Note, however, that the lens chip firmware update disables the ability of Arri cameras to see the data... that is, until Arri sends out a firmware update to their cameras.
Unfortunate, but there must have been some conflicts between the three systems. Hopefully this will resolve it.
I am waiting until I hear that Arri has an update. I don't want to lose the ability to see lens data on the Arri IVS. Hopefully soon...

Just a side question: Changing the lens during a powered RED I´ll loose the i-data on my LCD. I´ve to switch the cam on/off to get back to the i-data.
Is this normal?

Yes, that can happen, but we are about to post Beta Build 21 V21.1.2 that will allow the S4/i port to be reset from the UI...

This is very good to hear.
I'm aware that the Birger mount method of reporting the i-data through Canon lenses was considered a hack but could RED and Birger please work together to make this a stable feature.

Since this is something new to me, I'm gonna ask a dumb question. Does that mean I have to bring my Lenses back to the dealer to get the firmware on my lenses updated?

Correct. You can bring your lens to the dealer, or a local rental house.
Cooke also makes a USB cable that plugs into the Lemo on the lens and will update from a Windows computer.
Since I'm a Mac guy, I usually take my lenses over to ZGC to update.

Since last week our cooke lenses arrived. We have the 15-40 zoom, 50, 75 and 100mm. Since we've only had them since last week I'm guessing the firmware must be the most recent... Still only the 100mm seems to give us the i information. So the 15-40, 50 and 75mm won't work. Anyone got a suggestion?

PS: we have the most recent RED ONE build.
PS2: The lenses look AWESOME.

Looking at the white papers, firmware v2.29 was released July. I received mine beginning September. I'm guessing mine is latest firmware too but I'm having my dealer verify from the serial no.

PS: These lenses are sick!
