Forbes has Jannard in a 4-way tie, valued at approximately 2.8 Billion, for the 113th in the Richest Americans.

Just wanted to point that out... Because I'm damn jealous... :drool5:

Jim is the man!

I'm not sure I would be working 20 hour days and listening to all of us bitch all the time if I was in his position.

But I'm DAMN glad he does!

Good for RED = Good for us.

Good ideas have a tendency to die without sufficient liquidity.
Sufficient, can vary from a couple of $ to a couple of billion $
Either way... This looks kinda rock solid -;)

So let's just wait for some more vaporware to show up and alphas to test.
Looks like they're gonna have a fair chance of showing up at the table.

It is good to be king!

Americas favorite billionaire! :cheers2:

I've known Jim since the mid-80's. One of the very cool things about him is he has never forgotten his humble beginnings in a garage in Orange County, where he had the idea to start Oakley.

He still has a down home demeanor, hangs out regularly in T-shirts and shorts, and remembers well his alternative sports roots.

For the most part, if he walked by you on the street you'd never know he was super-wealthy. I've never seen him flaunt his wealth.

The side of Jim most people aren't aware of is his generosity, his good heart, and his quickness to step up and help others in need.

Jim is obviously a visionary in business. What a lot of people don't realize is that his key strength is that he is a very good team builder. He built a great team at Oakley - then did it again at RED.

Jim is a way-cool person. For those of you who haven't had, and may not have, the chance to meet Jim, hopefully the insight above into his nature will enhance your view of him. Nobody just handed Jim any of his wealth - take it from me, he is a very normal, cool guy who has just worked real hard, maximized his visionary nature, and made the most of his team building instincts - and he definitely has the flick on the inverse relationship between risk and return :)

Just by reading Mr. Jannard's posts you can see the kindness and humanity.

I don't know him at all, but I'll bet anyone he was never driven by money.

Good point but what is the alternative? Retirement? Boring! He has fun despite the bitching.:wink5: And we're better off for it.

I can say one thing about Jim: He is a True Visionary.

Obviously that Jim Jannard is a Visionary Man.

Whats very cool about RED is that it appears to be completely self funding and self fulfilling for the most part. Good old fashioned business sense. Its the kind of business your mother would run, and Edison would be proud of.. Thats one of the things I admire most about Jim; There is no waste.

really a man,anyway,seems Bill get the NO.1 seat now,cheers.

I sure wouldn't, I'd be making movies with my RED ONE!
I can say one thing about Jim: He is a True Visionary.
Probably the most important person in the world for those who own or want a RED product ... may he and RDC live long and prosper!
