  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Case fetish

The weight of having most of the package in one case would be my main concern, otherwise they look great. Do you have a total weight of the main case? Very well thought out.

Love the layout of the rods. Trouble with me is I want to have 15mm or 19mm rods available.
So I’m thinking to have the lid dedicated to 10 channels for rods going the full distance.6 channels for 19mm and 4 for 15mm rods.
All channels would go the full length of the lids with a spacer in between a long & short rod in the one channel.

Battery case is sweet. Maybe an option of including the mains adapter as a safety.

Regarding media…..I’ve got 3 red drives so I include 2 (atleast). The third one I could include in the Red cradle

I’d also like to include about 10 CF cards along with their pelican cards holders (Pelican 940, but with 2 per case…not four!...as I’ll also keep them in their clear plastic case.
I’d like to include 2 x Nexto or equivalent CF card backup devices in the media case.

For personal use I have the camera with bridge plate, 19mm rods, lcd with mounts/cables, red cradle loaded with red drive/battery/universal mount/cables and kit lens (18-50mm) in a Pelican 1600.
Dovetail goes with tripod.

For commercial hire I like to hear anybody’s thoughts on a 2 box solution…For example, Box 1 with camera, bridge plate, rods, evf & lcd with mounts/cables.

Box 2 with universal mounts, side mounts, dovetail, additional handle, red cradle (or equivalent) with drive cables x 3

Thanks Evin, that is some totally clutch camera porn Anders got there.

I spy a missing top mount on that cam.

Hi David,

Could you post a picture of your Pelican 1600 case layout ?

Cheers, Tim

Yes, I finally got it this thursday (2 months after the cam).
Now waiting on my 5.6" LCD and my 19mm bridge for that second body. (Just got a fedex tracking number from RED, so they must be here shortly)

Applause for Nate for his engagement in processing my stuff, but I sincerely hope RED will replace their order processing system very soon, so the reps have a chance of getting on top.
This email back and forth is ruining the fun for both the customers and the RED employees. Great products, terrible order system...

Well, I'm pretty imune to delays after having experience with Tiffen and Cinemaproducts regarding my steadicam. Cant get any worse in my experience. Waiting almost two whole months for some spare parts, and when they finally arrived it was the wrong ones.....doh!

Tim,
Here it is.

Rods are embedded in edge of foam at bottom and rhs of case.
Cables are stored under top handle.
Case holds 3 batteries. I'll need to rethink when I get EVF.

Layout is for personal use, but it's nice to just pick up the 1600 and o'connor soft bag for test shooting I doing at present.

Dave,
